Chapter 20

Foxy: "You guys always give me something to do." Officer Fitzgerald chuckled as she led Foxy through the Atrium. "At least there is never a dull moment here."

What have I done? Roxy looked so hurt. I failed to defend her. She must think I don't care. Foxy's thoughts raced with guilt as they passed by the various attractions, each a reminder of his failure to protect Roxy.

As they walked, Foxy glanced at the table where Roxy and Chica were celebrating a child's birthday. The scene tugged at Foxy's heart. Roxy, you're so beautiful and sweet. *Sigh* I wish I could tell you how I feel.

The beautiful wolf handed the birthday girl a present, her smile lighting up the room. Foxy's heart swelled with admiration as he watched Roxy playfully interact with the children. Why does she have to be so dang sweet?

Roxy noticed Foxy, and for a moment, their eyes met. But she quickly looked away, tears in her eyes. It's because of me. I messed everything up. Foxy told himself, his ears dropping.

"Hey, Foxy, something on your mind?" Fitz interrupted his thoughts.

How do I explain? Foxy hesitated, then decided to spill it out. Fitz listened attentively as they descended in the elevator to Parts and Service. "You know, Foxy, it seems like you care a lot about Roxy." The guard said after Foxy finished.

Of course, I care about her. She's everything to me, Foxy thought. He entered the Repair Cylinder and sat in the chair, and Fitz began working on repairing the fox's side. "You seem real torn up about this, Foxy." She chuckled. "It's clear as day that you have feelings for Roxy."

It's that obvious, huh. Foxy thought, feeling exposed. "I... I love her. I just... don't know how to deal with it."

Fitz chuckled. "Well, that explains a lot. You and Roxy, huh? It's like you two were made for each other."

Made for each other? Foxy frowned. But I've only caused her pain.

"You know, Roxy's changed for the better since you arrived, Foxy," Fitz continued as she worked. "I've known Roxy for a long time. She was different before you arrived. Short-tempered, self-centered. But with you, she changed. She became sweeter, more caring. She actively looked for ways to be near you. Roxy has opened up more since you've been around. She seems calmer and listens to you. Heck, she's told me she actually really likes you!"

Roxy... she's changed for me? Foxy's ears perked up, listening intently to Fitz as she ran some final diagnostics. "Hmmm... I couldn't fix your limp just yet. There seems to be something wrong with the bolts in your knee. I'll fix that some other time." Fitz shut down the computer, and Foxy exited the Repair Cylinder. He looked at the newly repaired hole in his side. Good as new. Before Foxy could leave, Fitz tapped his shoulder. "Before you go, Foxy, consider this: Roxy has told me she feels similar things for you and would probably be over the moon if she knew how you feel. Don't let fear hold you back."

Encouraged by Fitz's words, Foxy limped back to the Atrium, gathering the courage to talk to Roxy. But the birthday party was over when he arrived, with Chica leading the group to the exit and Roxy staying behind to help the staff bots clean up. Gosh, what am I doing? Foxy thought as he walked over and silently lent a helping hand. Cleaning up quietly, he observed Roxy, his heart swelling with affection.

She's so adorable and amazing... Foxy reached for a piece of trash, coincidentally at the same time as Roxy. Their hands touched, and Foxy froze. Come on, Foxy, don't be scared now.

"Umm... Howdy Roxanne," he said, but the wolf tearfully looked away and ran off to the East Arcade. Foxy looked around, unsure of what to do. "Oh..."

"You know..." Chica chirped, appearing beside him. "You should comfort her, Foxy. Roxy is just a tad bit embarrassed to talk to you in front of everyone."
