"Adrien, kid wake up."
"Plagg, go away, your cheese is in the minifridge go eat all you want."
The blonde grumbled pulling the covers over his head.
"Your father wanted to talk to you about the show Adrien, you are going to be late."
Grumbling again, the blonde man sat up in bed running a hand through his messy locks. Entering the bathroom and brushing his teeth, he grabbed his usual outfit, dressing as quickly as possible and heading to the Altier.
"Father, I'm here for our meeting."
"Adrien, yes come in we have much to discuss."
Walking into the room, his father was standing behind an ergonomic stand holding his tablet, in front of the geometric painting of his mother, stoic as ever. Taking a seat on the small, green sofa in front of him, Adrien waited for his father to speak again.
"Son, I wish to go back over the items you have brought to my attention regarding ladybug that you have learned over the years. Then we can ensure that we include all of the criteria in the search for young women for the show."
Before answering Adrien couldn't help but remember all they had attempted for the last five years to capture Ladybug's miraculous, even before she had a team of heroes to work beside her. Each time they sent akuma's to fight and Chat Noir to step in at the most opportune moments to grab the earrings, every attempt always failed. With her luck and the bad luck of the black cat, somehow, she always came out on top.
Then after three years of losing, they had moved on to trying to find her civilian form. Chat had learned over time the meeting locations of the miraculous users. He would hide in the shadows, listening, learning, and taking notes. It was obvious the holders knew each other as civilians by the way the discussed matters during patrol, but nothing was enough to give any of them away to a random eavesdropper.
First, they tried a fashion competition through Gabriel, using headshots to identify the designers, but no one matching Ladybug's description had applied.
Next, they began sending Natalie to order from the Tom and Sabine Boulangerie, which only ended up with many upset stomachs and Adrien on a cleanse to lose the weight he gained from all the pastries before his next photoshoot. That had been miserable, oh the stomachache. On top of it all Ladybug never showed up to buy anything at any time of the day that they had staked out the site.
From there every other attempt at finding out who Ladybug was under the mask had failed. The bug's luck was impeccable.
The reality show was the best idea they could come up with this time. Of course, it had to utilize Paris's number one eligible bachelor, what else was new that's all he was good for, being Gabriel Agreste's lacky.
That definitely lead to some arguments, because over time Chat had started to resent his father for his part in all of this madness. He missed his mother yes, he loved her and wanted her back, but listening to Ladybugs conversations night after night had started making him wish he had been on the miraculous team instead. He might even have friends, people who cared about him, instead of being stuck in the damn mansion alone with only Plagg as company.
He knew his father didn't really care; he only wanted his wife back. If he did care, he would want his son to be happy, but no matter how much he did to for his father, whether it was learning Chinese, playing piano, being a champion fencer or the face of the Gabriel brand, it was never enough. Every time they failed it was his fault. He didn't try hard enough. He was ready for this to end. This was the last plan he was willing to try, if it didn't work, oh well, he was moving on with his life.
"Do we really need to do this father? I mean its ladybug, she probably wouldn't blink at the idea of signing up for something like this, plus nothing else has ever worked."
A black blur flew from Adrien's shirt pocket.
"She did have that huge crush on Adrien a few years back remember, you heard her talking to the fox. She was practically drooling, and wasn't there something about three kids and a hamster named..."
"Plagg, that was three years ago! There's no way she still has that schoolgirl crush," Adrien cut him off, cheeks flushed pink from the memory.
He couldn't believe his lady had a crush on him as a civilian. He could only hope Plagg was right, but he wasn't getting his hopes up. Plus, if they did find her, she would hate him once they took the miraculous, it didn't matter how much he liked her.
Shrugging the kwami flew in front of his holder's face.
"I mean, you haven't heard her talk about any other guys, and it seem the fox and turtle are together. Just like the snake and the bee. She's got to be lonely right? Being the only single of the group."
"She's the group leader Plagg and the Guardian now, I'm sure love is the last thing on her mind."
Shrugging the kwami dove back into Adrien's shirt for a piece of Camembert. "I sthay iths orth a twy," the little black cat spoke through his mouth full of cheese.
"Plagg is right Adrien, we cannot give up, not on your mother. She is counting on us. Now let's review the list." Gabriel made his way beside Adrien, sitting down with a list in his hands. Adrien sat straighter, swatting his kwami away to take a look.
"What We Know About Ladybug"
1. Blue/black hair
2. Blue eyes
3. Sews, creates her own clothes and commissions others.
4. Is unbeatable at Mecha Strike
5. Was class President in College and Lycee
6. Strong, intelligent, and creative
7. Possibly has a parent who is Chinese.
8. Loves to eat sweets from T&S Boulangerie
9. Attending University of Paris
10. Clumsy as a civilian
11. Had a crush on Adrien Agreste in lycee
The list included everything he was able to decern from the conversations between the miraculous holders.
"That has everything I found out father. Do you think it will be enough?"
"We can only hope and like Plagg said, if she still likes Adrien then hopefully that would be what draws her out."
Gabriel stood heading back to his tablet to continue his work.
"You know, I was thinking. You have this idea for this reality show, why not give an interview to the Lady Blogger. She is Ladybugs number one fan and well she might even put a note on the blog to catch her eye pushing her to apply, since the criteria is literally her" the little black cat floating beside Adrien, licking his paws nonchalantly mentioned.
"That is actually an excellent idea Plagg, Adrien why didn't you think of that." Gabriel scowled at his son.
"Ugh, thanks Plagg. With that Father I'm going to my room now."
Adrien stood heading back to the loneliness of his two-story bedroom, but it was better than being shamed by his father. Shutting the door to his room, Adrien looked at Plagg with indignation, as he lay down on Adrien's pillow for a nap.
"You little shit! This is your fault! So now, we are going for a run. Plagg Claws OUT!"
