Awakening

The room was incredibly bright. So bright that Marinette actually couldn't stay asleep even if she wanted to. Opening her eyes to a twelve-foot window wall, explained why it was like waking up on the beach after the sun had moved and you were no longer in the shadow of the umbrella. Rolling over she found Adrien, sitting shirtless beside her, looking through his phone.

"Hey," Marinette whispered not wanting to startle him.

"Good morning, My Lady. We have a few days off and I have a shoot today, you want to come?"

"Am I allowed to? I mean is that not against the rules?" she asked him a pout on her lips.

"Heh, probably but honestly at this point does it even matter anymore? I know I'm choosing you; I mean, we are already dating right?"

"Well, we did sleep together, twice now," she giggled, her hand covering her mouth.

"Yes, we did," the seduction in his voice causing Marinette to shiver as he pulled her hand from her lips, sliding his onto hers.

As he moved back his forehead resting on hers, "I could wake up like this for the rest of my life."

"Me too kitty, me too."

A knock at the door, jolt the two from each other. Adrien ushering Marinette into the bathroom as he moved to open the door, "coming," he called.

Walking past Adrien into the room Natalie and his father make their way to the large white couch in the sitting area of the room, sitting on opposite ends.

"Put a shirt on, Adrien, you are not a hooligan, we have a female present and we are not at a pool or summer photoshoot," his father scolded him.

"Yes father, my apologies Natalie," Adrien moved to his dresser grabbing a skintight black tee.

"How may I help you both this morning?" Adrien asked, knowing that they wanted to discuss his thoughts on who Ladybug might be.

"We have this meeting once a week Adrien, you know what we are here for. Have you figured her out yet? The Dupain-Cheng girl, she looks so much like her, but I don't want to make any speculation without full confidence that I am correct."

Marinette stood behind the bathroom door listening as Adrien discussed the situation of the show, locating Ladybug, and making her fall in love, so he could steal the earrings. She knew after their time together last night that Adrien was on her side now, but he was a very convincing actor. At least his vocal performance was great, she just hoped his facial expressions didn't give him away. He was a model, he should be good at controlling them, right?

"No, father. I even spoke to Plagg and he won't tell me anything. I honestly don't think it's her though."

"Is this because you are sleeping with Ms. Marinette, Adrien? Is that why you feel this way?"

Her hand flying over her mouth, Marinette slid down the door to the floor. She couldn't believe Natalie just ousted them like that to Adrien's father. She couldn't hear the next comments, but she figured Gabriel probably wasn't the happiest of campers. Adrien had a job and was sleeping with girls well girl from the show instead.

The door to the bathroom started to creak open, Marinette crawling behind the shower curtain to hide. "She is in here, correct? Ms. Marinette, please come out we know you are here," Natalie told her. Marinette moved from behind the curtain giving a little wave and small smile to the ever-stoic assistant.

Exiting the bathroom in only one of Adrien's shirts, thankfully she was tiny, so it went to her knees, she walked looking toward the floor.

"How much did you hear?" Straight to the point, no beating around the bush, that was Gabriel Agreste.

"I...I sir, I didn't hear anything I was hiding in the shower," Marinette glanced up to see Gabriel straighten his glasses.

"You need to stop this foolishness right now both of you. The show will be ruined if anyone finds out that you have already chosen one of the girls Adrien. Or is this one of those teen Rebellon things where you fuck all the girls? Just don't get her pregnant."

"It isn't like that father, I promise. I... when this is done, I want to choose Mari," Adrien insisted.

Gabriel turned from Marinette to Adrien. A look of I know you are lying on his face. She could see it in his eyes, Gabriel Agreste may have been able to give Natalie a run for her money on the stoic bitch face, but his eyes in this situation were giving him away. She knew what he was thinking, he knew it was her, now that Adrien had lied to him, and "chosen her" he knew she was Ladybug. He also wasn't stupid enough to out himself right here in the middle of Adrien's room, just in case someone else came in or based on his glance toward the clasp hands of his son and hers he knew Adrien would fight to protect her. Gabriel was smart. He would want time to regroup. Find a way to win his son back over, even if he believed Marinette didn't know he was her arch nemesis.

His thumb and pointer finger on his nose, Gabriel shook his head. "Just be careful, no making out in public. Any affection stays within this room, do you understand. Now get ready you are both going to the photo shoot today. Marinette you modelled decently well, even if you are on the vertically challenged side. You will be modeling with Adrien today. I already have your measurements, I'll have the team reconfigure them to fit, that is all." Then he was gone, the door slamming shut behind him.

"Well, that could have gone better," Plagg flew out from hiding, Tikki nodding right behind him.

"Your old man knows kid, it was written all over his face," Plagg continued as Marinette nodded too, "he's right Adrien, he knows. I was watching him; he might be good at covering his feelings in his expressions, but his eyes talk. That's why he's sending me with you today. He wants you to keep an eye on me at all times or its some kind of test."

Adrien sat down on the couch, running his hands through his golden locks. Marinette taking a moment to sit beside him, but not touching or speaking again to give him space to think. A few minutes later Adrien head lifted staring at the large screen television where his and Marinette's reflections sat.

"Not sure what to do Mari. If you are right and he really knows, then that means he knows I'm not going to give you up easily or he would have transformed and taken the miraculous right then."

"That was my thought too minou. He's worried I know, which is legitimate since I do. I may not know your father that well, but I know Hawkmoth and he's wanting to plan and manipulate to the win. He doesn't want to have to fight you. Whether it is because he knows he will lose because we are yin and yang and stronger together, or because you are his son." Marinette lay her hand on Adrien's cheek, turning him from the tv to look at her.

"It's definitely not because I'm his son. He knows how smart you are My Lady; he doesn't want to underestimate you."

Plagg swoops back over sitting on Marinette's shoulder facing toward Adrien, "he will probably try to use you as bait," he spat. Knowing how much Plagg hated his father he couldn't help but let out a small disagreeing noise, but he was right, his father didn't care, he was planning on using Adrien as the sacrifice. His fists clinched around the fabric of his pant legs, a tear leaving his eye and rolling down hitting the hand that lay there in an attempt to be consoling.
