Vegas summers

We all got so wrapped up in comps after that day so before I knew it a month had passed since we made it official. When I got home from practice the house was empty with a note I sat down and started to google creative gift ideas and then I found one. I grabbed a new deck of cards and a sharpie and wrote on the back of a card ' 52 things I really like about you ' and I started to fill the deck with things. I put the cards back into the box and tried and failed so many times to wrap it that finally I gave up and just decided to write in the box but I misspelled a word so finally I took the cards back out of the box and clipped them together with a binder clip. I slipped the deck into my back pocket and started to leave the house when I was hit with the painful memory of when I made the board for summer and I caught her with Ari.
" stop "
I said to myself and I pulled the deck out
" she's not like her she's nothing like Summer ok it will be ok "
And with that, I made my way to her place.
When I got there Andy's car was gone and her bike was there so I went to the front of the house and went to her window and her room was empty. I looked and noticed that it was a fresh white and with that, I moved the slats and pushed the deck through it and it landed on her bed right side up and I smiled. I pulled out my phone and sent her a text and I just sat against the house till I heard a quiet sniffle of sorts.

Vegas pov
I got a text from Bax
' hey I got you something I left it in your room '
I rushed out of the bathroom and found what looked to be a deck of cards clipped together I grabbed it and on the front it said
'52 things I really like about you '
I started to flip through and on the face of the cards it had something written. When I got to the last card an ace of hearts it said
' you are more than enough '
I just looked at the card his scratchy handwriting seeming to dance as my eyes welled up. He appeared in the window and tipped the slats
" thank you so much "
"Happy One Month"
" you remembered that "
" of course I do "
All I could do was just look at him
" come inside "
He smiled and before I knew it he was standing in my room and I just looked at him and then at the cards
" I love it "
I looked up at him and I could feel I was about to start bawling
" no no, don't cry "
He said with that smile and hugged me
" thank you "
" you're welcome and I'm not mad that you didn't get me anything "
I pulled back a little
" Who said that "
He just smiled
" ok go wait outside I need to get dressed "
" fine "

Bax pov
" fine "
I said and left the room and Surf followed me. We were just waiting for her in the living room when her door opened and she was in a light green dress that showed off her figgier in a subtle way and it was just below her knees
" I love it "
She blushed and then I noticed that her hands were behind her back
" no silly this is your gift "
She walked over and sat down next to me and then she put a piece of paper on my lap. I picked it up and it said in loopy handwriting
' To Bax, my Baxter thank you for all that you have done for me. Here's to month one and however many more the ocean blesses us with 🤍 -Vegas (Kimberly)'
I looked at her quickly and she was just smiling looking at the paper then I flipped it over and it was a drawing. My eyes were pulled from one thing to the next
" This is I love it "
I looked at the drawing of me standing in the water with my board at my side it was perfect
" I'm so happy you like it it took ages "
" wow now I feel bad mine isn't this "
" oh stop I love it "
She grabbed the deck and started to go through it again.
