bottom!Hongjoong
Top!Seonghwa.
"Give it to me!"
"No!"
Since earlier, Hongjoong and Seonghwa had been like this.
Seonghwa, who had just finished taking a shower in the middle of the night, entered the room and found Hongjoong looking surprised at him. It was evident from his widened eyes. Not stopping there, Hongjoong, holding a pen, quickly tore the pages from the book he had just written, crumpled them into a ball, and hid them behind his back. Even though he was caught red-handed.
Suspicious, Seonghwa furrowed and immediately approached Hongjoong, attempting to see what Hongjoong had written. However, Hongjoong didn't want to share.
"What is it? Why can't I see? You're acting so suspicious."
"It's nothing."
"Impossible. It must be something. Why else would you hide it, huh?"
"Just trust me, it's nothing! Can you please stop being so curious? And put some clothes on. Isn't it cold to be shirtless like this in the middle of the night?"
Seonghwa looked down at his exposed upper body while toweling off. He shrugged, "Don't worry, the cold never bothered me anyway."
Hongjoong immediately facepalmed. "Fine, whatever, your highness Elsa."
There was a brief silence until Seonghwa realized again, "Give me!"
No way!" Hongjoong was about to tear the paper behind his back before Seonghwa successfully snatched it away. "Hey!" He regretted not thinking of tearing it earlier. Panic has a way of stopping the brain from functioning properly.
Seonghwa raised his hands high so Hongjoong couldn't snatch it back, even though he tried to jump and reach it until he got tired. It was still out of his reach.
The dominant one pushed the submissive one away, holding him back. He lowered his other hand and finally opened the crumpled ball of paper, reading what Hongjoong had written. It made Seonghwa burst into laughter. Hongjoong only pouted, upset that his secret was exposed. Unbeknownst to Seonghwa, Hongjoong removed any signs of deception because he knew what made him look dishonest in Seonghwa's eyes. All for Seonghwa, who had fought for him.
"Why didn't you just tell me? Instead, you resort to pouring your heart out on paper. This paper is an inanimate object. It won't give you what you want."
Hongjoong remained silent, only pouting in frustration and embarrassment. "I was afraid you'd laugh at me. And you did, right? That's why I didn't tell you."
"I laughed not because of what you wrote but because you went to this length. Besides, my laughter was gentle, not a barbaric laugh mocking you."
"Whatever." Hongjoong sulked, but Seonghwa wasn't very perceptive to it.
Seonghwa placed the paper on the table and proceeded to get dressed, combing his hair and applying cologne.
"Wait, where are you going? Why are you all dressed up in jeans and a leather jacket?" asked Hongjoong, leaning against the headboard, reading a pregnancy magazine titled "Nine Amazing Months."
"Buying whatever you want."
"But I didn't ask for anything?"
"But you want—no, even more than that. You're craving. I can't just sit idly by."
"Park Seonghwa, please don't be crazy. This is the middle of the night, for God's sake! Where can you find all these foods?"
So, what Hongjoong had written was a list of foods he really wanted at that moment.
"Yes, I am crazy. Crazy about you."
Hongjoong just rolled his eyes.
"Well, because I checked GoFood and couldn't find any of these, I'm going to look for them myself. I'll find them no matter what."
"Don't, please. Do it tomorrow. I'm sleepy now," Hongjoong put away his magazine, adjusted his pillow and blanket, "see, I'm going to sleep now."
"No, you're lying. You're the one who said you wanted this right now." Seonghwa knew Hongjoong's lying behavior too well.
"That was earlier. People can change their minds," Hongjoong lied again.
Seonghwa stroked the top of Hongjoong's head. "Relax, love. I can't promise to be back soon, but I'll try to get what you want." He kissed Hongjoong's forehead.
"Up to you." Even though he seemed annoyed, Hongjoong secretly smiled, blushing. That's how much his devoted husband was willing to sacrifice for him. "Be careful, though. There are many muggers out there at this hour. Take care."
"Don't worry. Before they even unsheathed their machetes, I'd have slashed them first."
"Don't! You'll end up in jail, and our future child won't be able to see their dad."
"Alright, fine. I'll be careful. You take care at home too. Lock the door properly."
"Yes, dear."
Seonghwa left to fulfill his mission. To get chemotherapy steak and Whiskas fried bread, dessert with Bayer tonic pineapple tart, and a Dalgona of Combi herbal cough medicine. Things he could only get at Bobon's silly shop and Chef Tretan's charming restaurant. Seonghwa was fortunate that these places were still open. So, he managed to return within an hour. Perhaps Hongjoong had fallen asleep, and his appetite for these strange foods had disappeared. But it didn't matter to Seonghwa; what mattered was that he had demonstrated his reliability as an attentive husband.
"Ta-da! All your orders are here!" Seonghwa pointed to a large plastic bag containing Hongjoong's food.
"Yay! Finally arrived." Hongjoong pretended to be happy, although he was already sleepy and had lost his appetite. Now, he was more concerned about eating other strange foods. This time, Seonghwa didn't know Hongjoong was lying because Hongjoong had removed any signs of deception. All for Seonghwa, who had fought for him.
"But the cough syrup Dalgona is out of stock, so I bought just the syrup from the pharmacy to make Dalgona here. Is that okay?"
"Oh, even if you can't get it, I can still drink Aqua."
"It's okay, just eat this first while I make the dalgona, alright?"
"No need, dear, seriously."
"Ah, I'll make it anyway. Wait, let me transfer the food to a plate first."
The food was served, and Hongjoong enjoyed it heartily. Seonghwa, mixing cold syrup, felt disgusted.
"Is it good?" he asked.
Hongjoong nodded enthusiastically.
"That... the fried Whiskas bread, how does it taste?"
"Like bread filled with sardines."
Still, Seonghwa imagined it as cat food, raw fish that was repulsive. It made him nauseous instantly. He felt genuinely sick and rushed to the bathroom to vomit, but no food came out, only saliva, like a pregnant woman.
Worried, Hongjoong immediately followed, massaging Seonghwa's neck and wiping around his mouth with the sink water.
"You're stubborn, I told you not to go out in the middle of the night. It's so cold. Now you caught a cold, right?"
"No, dear, I'm fine."
Hongjoong hugged Seonghwa, burying his face in his shoulder. "Thank you, honey, for being the best husband on Earth. Those who can't have you as their life partner are really unlucky."
Seonghwa reciprocated the hug, stroking the back of Hongjoong's head. "Thank you for making me happy too."
Those touches successfully distracted Seonghwa from his nausea.
But the next morning and for several days after, he continued to experience morning sickness.
It's okay, really. If that keeps Hongjoong healthy, Seonghwa is willing to endure it.
