bottom!Jongho
Top!Yeosang.
This is the first year Yeosang will celebrate Halloween with Jongho.
This happens because they have been dating and living together this year.
On the afternoon leading up to Halloween night, Yeosang was watching TV in the living room. His activity stopped when he noticed commotion from the front door.
He saw his boyfriend struggling to carry a large box, the contents of which were unknown. With his perceptiveness, Yeosang managed a small smile before turning off the TV and walking over to Jongho.
"Do you need help, darling?" Yeosang offered, taking over the task and transferring the box to his own hands.
Jongho smiled despite his fatigue. "Thank you. I’ve been exhausted carrying this thing for a while."
"You’re strong to carry something this heavy."
"So are you. Look at those big veins bulging from your arms."
Yeosang chuckled softly. Although he often received such compliments from Jongho, he never grew tired of it and always appreciated how Jongho admired his perfect physique.
"So, where should we put this?" Yeosang, who was also starting to struggle with the box, asked.
"Just take it to the kitchen."
"The kitchen? Huh? What’s inside? What did you buy?"
"Just take it to the kitchen first. We’ll unbox it together there, then you’ll find out, okay?"
"Alright."
Yeosang complied, carrying the large and heavy box to the kitchen, with Jongho following closely behind to keep an eye on it, afraid it might fall.
In the kitchen, Yeosang set the box down near the refrigerator, sighing in relief as the weight was lifted from him. "Well, it’s here now. Let’s open it together."
Jongho grabbed a pair of scissors and cut the tape sealing the box. When they opened it together,
"Ta-da!"
Yeosang’s face went slack. "I-I didn’t expect this... so many, darling. What are you planning to do with all this?"
It turned out to be a lot of large pumpkins.
"I’m going to make pumpkin pie for you; you’re going to love it!"
"Huh? Cooking? Since when can you cook? Pfffttt." Yeosang looked like he was holding back laughter. Jongho, feeling slightly offended, pouted.
"Yeah, yeah, I know. I can’t cook. That’s why I watched a tutorial on Halloween recipes. Pumpkin pie sounds delicious, right?"
"Yes. And? Is there anything else?"
"Of course. I’m also going to make you a pumpkin spice latte."
"What? Coffee with pumpkin? I’ve never heard of that."
"Well, you’ve just heard about it from me now." Jongho smiled proudly.
Yeosang laughed. "Alright, alright. Do as you please. Are you going to cook it now?"
"Of course. I don’t have much time. I need to hurry."
"Do you need my help? Again?"
"No, no need. I’ll do it all myself. Consider it one way I’m taking care of you."
"Okay then. Cook something delicious," Yeosang patted Jongho’s head, "have fun!"
Yeosang went back to the living room and turned on the TV again, resuming his interrupted show. Meanwhile, Jongho started preparing the ingredients for cooking.
That evening, the couple did not dress up or wear costumes as they usually did in previous years. They just changed into clean clothes after a shower.
"Mmm! Wow, this is so good! My bear baby turns out to have a hidden talent as a chef." Yeosang praised sincerely, his eyes shining with happiness because the delicious food made him happy. Jongho blushed and was unsure how to respond.
So he simply asked, "Well then, finish it up!"
"Aren’t you going to eat?"
"Sure, if you don’t mind."
"Why would I mind?" Yeosang fed Jongho a piece of pie. They ended up feeding each other. Yeosang said the pumpkin spice latte was also good. He even mentioned that Jongho could become a barista with these skills.
Next, Jongho suggested carving pumpkins, keeping some intact after removing the insides earlier.
Yeosang was initially reluctant but decided to agree because it was a special day, and he wanted to reciprocate Jongho’s efforts. He finally agreed.
Jongho wanted them to carve faces on the pumpkins. Yeosang wasn’t sure, but remembering his desire to return Jongho’s kindness, he decided to give it a try. Since Jongho had previously carved a beautiful flower into a watermelon, Yeosang trusted him.
Jongho occasionally glanced at Yeosang while carving, then returned to his task.
"That’s a lot of pumpkin pie you made. Are we going to finish it all?" Yeosang asked between their activities.
"No. I’ll save some for tomorrow and share the rest with friends."
A while later, Jongho noticed something unusual. "Why? Why did you stop? Hurry up and finish your work."
Jongho found Yeosang staring at him instead of continuing to carve, smiling away. He was too mesmerized by Jongho’s adorable serious face.
"Come on, keep going. It’s starting to embarrass me to be stared at like that!"
No, Yeosang wouldn’t stop admiring Jongho’s face until Halloween night was over.
