bottom!Yeosang
Top!San.
San and Yeosang have a to-do list for their vacation activities together.
On the first day, they decide to go to the amusement park.
This isn’t their first time at the amusement park, but it's usually with family or friends. As a couple, this is their first time, so they don’t know how each other will react to the rides.
At first, Yeosang suggests they start with the carousel to warm up before trying more extreme rides. But San refuses, saying it's embarrassing for an adult to ride a carousel. He suggests they start with the Ferris wheel instead. Yeosang argues that the Ferris wheel requires a group of eight people, making it less intimate, whereas the carousel has seats for two, allowing Yeosang to rest his head on San’s shoulder. San counters that they can be intimate in their room later, as much as they want.
But Yeosang pouts, so San reluctantly agrees.
Yeosang isn’t actually that selfish; he says he’ll follow San’s choices after this.
So, they end up riding the Thunderbolt as their second ride.
Yeosang has been to the amusement park five times before but has never ridden the Thunderbolt. He’s scared it will make his heart race. He usually sticks to gentler rides like the Doll Castle, the Blowing Elephant, and the Teacups—rides that don’t spike his adrenaline.
But now, in front of San, he feels embarrassed and doesn’t tell San about his usual preferences. He wants to maintain his pride.
Yeosang tries hard not to show his fear when agreeing to San’s choice. He feels a bit relieved because, according to his cousin, the Thunderbolt has a long wait time of up to an hour—second only to the simulator, which has a two-hour wait, even though the ride itself is only five to ten minutes. This gives Yeosang time to mentally prepare himself.
Unfortunately, San decides to buy VIP tickets to skip the line. Yeosang protests, saying it’s a waste of money. It’s better to wait in line like everyone else.
“It’s only ten dollars, what’s the big deal?” San says arrogantly. “Are you scared or something?” he teases with a smug face that Yeosang finds extremely irritating.
“No! Ten dollars can buy eight servings of meatballs.”
“I can use my money to buy eighty servings if you want. But can you handle that?”
“That’s not what I meant. Eight servings are for eight meals!”
“Do you plan to eat meatballs all the time?”
“Forget it.”
“Are you sure this isn’t about being scared?”
“No! If you don’t believe it, let’s just go now!”
San laughs mischievously. His bait has worked. He wants to prove that Yeosang is actually scared. He doesn’t want to see Yeosang suffer, of course. He loves his beautiful partner too much. He just wants to see Yeosang’s adorable reactions when scared, and he loves how Yeosang acts when he’s frightened. It’s one of the times San can take advantage of the situation.
Since it’s Yeosang’s first time, he doesn’t know the proper way to ride the Thunderbolt. One needs to relax and lean back against the seat. But Yeosang is tense, stiff, and doesn’t lean back. As a result, during the ride, his body gets jolted, and his back feels like it’s cracking.
To make matters worse, after the ride, Yeosang feels dizzy, nauseous, and ends up vomiting everything in the nearest restroom. San had planned to go on more extreme rides like the Niagara, the Twister, the Tornado, and the Hysteria, but seeing Yeosang’s reaction, he decides to abandon those plans.
“You’re looking so pale. Sorry,” San feels guilty.
“It’s okay. You didn’t force me. I acted like I was brave, but I was scared to death,” Yeosang admits.
“Let’s just eat something now. Since you threw up breakfast, your stomach must be empty.”
“No, I’m still nauseous. I don’t have an appetite. I’ll eat later when I’m hungry.”
“Alright then. Let’s go to the Mirror House first. Then the Leaning House, and finally the Doll Castle.”
Now it’s Yeosang who feels guilty. “Am I not fun? I can’t enjoy myself.”
“Hey, don’t say that, love. It’s just about the rides. I’ve been on them often. It’s better to do something we both can enjoy than to force something one of us can’t handle.”
“Really, it’s okay?”
“Yes,” San pokes Yeosang’s nose, “what’s not okay for you?”
“After the Doll Castle, let’s ride the Wave.”
“Getting wet?” San laughs. “But we don’t have spare clothes, darling.”
“It’s fine. We can dry ourselves later if we ride the Twister and get tossed around.”
“Good idea. After getting wet, we can dry off with the wind.” San laughs again. Why didn’t he think of that?
Of course, he never thought of it because whenever he planned to ride the Wave at the amusement park, he always brought spare clothes. If he wasn’t going to ride, he wouldn’t bring any.
It’s a good thing he’s with Yeosang now, as his perspective on amusement park strategies has expanded. Likewise, Yeosang learns that he needs to lean back in the Thunderbolt.
“I usually do this with friends, and it really works.”
“Alright then. Let’s go.”
They walk towards the Mirror House, holding hands.
San’s comforting presence makes Yeosang’s dizziness, nausea, and body aches disappear instantly.
