Frail Acceptance

Chapter 4

Aldric's POV

I feel somebody shake my shoulder, and that's when I come out of those beautiful honey traps. I look over to find Clovis's hand on my shoulder standing beside me, asking if I was okay, and I just shrugged at him.

But I really wanted to talk to the guy and get to know him. For some reason, I really wanted to know more about him.

But before I could walk up to him, a guy came out of the classroom whose face I couldn't see, and he hugged him really tight. Looking at them hugging each other for some reason did not feel good, but I was confused. Why would I feel that way when I don't even know the guy?

And to add to my confusion, Axe started growling and clawing with irritation and frustration. I asked him what's up, but he did not reply.

Before I could think of it more, Tyler came running towards us and jumped up on Clovis. For a split second, I lost my focus, and the guy was gone.

"Alright, lets go, have lunch." Valerie finally said and we started walking to the cafeteria.

I was still not over the whole incident, so I asked Axe once again, Hey, Axe, what's up?

I guess I am just on edge because we haven't found our mate yet. Axe replies

It's fine, Axe; I know we'll find our mate soon. I replied.

Once we reach the cafeteria, we sit at our usual table, and Tyler starts telling Clovis about his day, and I just sit there scrolling through Instagram on my phone.

I looked up from my mobile screen, when Tyler started shouting "Noah, Noah, here come join us for lunch" and that's when I saw him again. So his name is Noah I thought to myself.

He looked a bit reluctant but then started walking slowly towards us, and Tyler just ran up to him and dragged him to us faster.

He sat beside Tyler and right in front of me at the table. "Who is this, darling? I've never heard of him or seen him before" Clovis said to Tyler. Well within a week's time Clovis had gotten to know almost all the people in Tyler's life. Also, Tyler is a chatterbox so it wasn't really hard to know everything about him.

"Oh, this is a new friend. He joined our school today and is in my biology and history class. Also, he is a beta(Gender wise) and his name is Noah." He replied and then turned to Noah and said, "Noah, meet Clovis my mate and future beta of our pack. Also, he is a year older than me."

"Hi, I am Clovis. Nice to meet you" Clovis said, letting a hand out for a handshake.

Noah meekly replied, "Hi, nice to meet you too."  And avoided handshake, which Tyler covered up for, shaking his hand with Clovis.

"Oh right, Noah, let me introduce you to others here. Firstly that's Aldric, our future alpha. Next, that's Valerie, our future Gamma, that's Gabriel he is a warrior in the pack, that's Eva, Gabriel's mate and that's Jace, my best friend and an omega like me.", Tyler introduces everyone and Noah just gives small smile to everyone and waves in small.

Oh god, he's so cute. I say to Axe.

He is. Axe replies.

"So, where is your mate? He was with you in the morning, right?" Tyler asked Noah.

But before Noah could reply, Tyler started talking again: "Well, you know, they looked so cute in the morning; I just stayed there watching them have their moment."

"You guys look really adorable with each other." He said this, turning to Noah.

Oh, he has a mate already. I thought to myself, and for some reason, I was sad knowing that.

I am feeling very agitated, Al. Axe said in my head.

And I guess Clovis felt it too, and mind linked me asking if I was okay, and I didn't know what to tell him.

Why was I so out of it around this guy?

Noah's POV

I was just stuck there, looking into his eyes for how long I don't know, and it was new to me. Why were my feelings so weird?

I was glad I was able to avert my gaze once Li came out of the classroom and gave me a bone-crushing hug. I grabbed his hand and started to walk as fast as possible to get away from whatever that moment was.

As we were walking, Li asked me about my classes and all, and I told him it was fine and not as scary as I thought. But it was still not comfortable for me to be around people.

Just before we reached the cafeteria, Li got a call, and he walked away to talk, and I thought over what happened today and felt weird about it.

I guess it was just that you like the green shade of his eyes. Jay said.

I guess. I replied back.

"Noh, I guess I have to go; it's urgent." Li said coming to me.

"Oh, is everything okay?" I asked

"Yeah, nothing serious, but I have to go. And you don't skip your lunch. Have food, and I'll call you once I'm done." Li said, hugged me, and flew away.

I sighed as I looked at the entrance of the cafeteria.

Urgh! I don't want to go, Jay. I said

It's going to be fine; just get something packed and find a quiet place to eat. Jay replied.

I guess that works. I replied back.

I entered the cafeteria and was looking around to find some veg options, when I heard someone call my name. I turned around and saw Tyler waving at me.

He invited me to sit with them and I honestly didn't want to but I couldn't reject him, as he was with a group of people and it would be rude to just reject him, so I joined them.

Once we all settled around the table, Tyler started his chattering. He introduced everybody to me, and the whole time my gaze was down on my lap, but when he introduced everyone to me, I looked up and gave them a small smile and a weak hi. Because that is what my doctor had me practice to get ready for social gatherings like these.

Then he started talking about my brother and my morning iteration, referring to Li as my mate. I could have started laughing at that if I wasn't around people. God, imaging that just makes a shiver run down my spine. First: Yes, Li is the best and the sweetest, but he is as straight as an arrow. Second: We have always considered each other as brothers and nothing else.

But when he asked me why Li did not come, everyone's eyes were on me and I started feeling very uncomfortable.

Just before I start panicking and breathing unevenly, Aldric said, "Guys, let's order food; I am hungry." and I felt so glad to have him at the table.

Everybody mentioned their orders to one of the guys sitting with us, whose name I already forgot. And once again, everybody was focusing on me to order, and I was starting to get self-conscious as I could not eat in front of them no matter how much I try to.

As I was starting to feel my breath being constricted in my lungs, my mobile started vibrating, and I quickly picked it up. It was Li who told me we needed to go home early due to some reason, and I couldn't be happier than anything listening to that.

I told Tyler I needed to leave, quickly picked up my stuff, and left the cafeteria without even looking back.
