Aldric's POV

I woke up really early in the morning due to some weird feeling budding inside me. It was as if my nerves wouldn't calm down. I tried to shake it off, but the feeling only grew stronger.

I interpreted the feeling as nervousness, as today is a very special day, and I don't want anything to ruin it.

I stayed in bed rolling around for a while to check up if everything I'd prepared for today was okay, and then texted my sweet little mate.

I got up for a long, much needed shower, taking extra care of my skin and hair to ensure I looked and felt my best for the big day.

Once I was done, I grabbed a pair of joggers and a t-shirt, put them on, and headed to the dining room for breakfast.

I kept looking at my phone for a message from my mate but got none. Usually, he wakes up at the same time, so I know when to message him to get a quick reply.

The nervous feeling I had earlier, which I had managed to push aside, intensified for some reason.

Not getting a reply from him was completely normal; he might also be nervous for today and getting ready in his own way, but it bothered me somehow.

Once I was done with breakfast, my father asked me to complete a few tasks before I could get the rest of the day off.

I got a few of them done, but then the uncomfortable feeling kept on growing, and I could not focus anymore.

I stepped out of the house to go border patroling with Clovis.

As soon as I stepped out of the house, I was met with Clovis and some other warriors of the pack.

Clovis started discussing the changes that we were to make to the patrol and security systems.

While we were discussing things, my notification ringtone chimed, and I felt my heart skip a beat, thinking it was my mate's reply, but it was not, and for some reason I felt very uneasy about the fact that he hasn't even read my messages yet.

I excused myself to finally give him a call, as it was taking him too much time to reply and I needed to talk to him urgently.

The worry was gnawing at me, making me anxious about what could be causing the delay in his response.

I called him once, but he did not pick up. I called him twice, but he did not pick up.

My mind started racing with worst-case scenarios, imagining all sorts of reasons why he wasn't answering. I decided to send him a text expressing my concern and asking him to please call me back as soon as possible.

Axe growled in my head and said, We should go check on him, you dumbass. Instead of just waiting for his contact and shit.

Maybe this uncomfortable feeling that we have been feeling since morning has something to do with him.

And that was my last straw. I dragged Clovis to the side and told him I was going to check on my mate and make sure he was okay.

He asked me what was wrong, and I told him I was unable to get a hold of my mate, and I was worried.

He asked if I needed any help. I assured him I would mind link him if necessary and stripped off my clothes, clutching them in my mouth, before running off to my mate's house.

Once I reached his house, I could smell his scent trailing off to the forest area that was located nearby.

Now, I definitely knew something was wrong because Noah never removed his accessories that concealed his scent, and the front was a little open.
