As soon as the door closed behind them, Ms Schmidt immediately turned to gather her children into a small group, in which she gave them all a tight hug. Michael would be lying that he wasn't expecting their mum to embrace them all of a sudden, although it wasn't an unwelcome one. Due to the last question, making things uncomfortable for everyone and bringing up a topic he would much rather avoid talking about. If anything, Michael was more concerned about his sibling's well-being rather than his own, despite his past tormenting ways with C.C he still gave a damn about him; as they only had each other to rely on and seek comfort when things at home got bad. Sure, Michael had his friends to seek other comfort, but they didn't have to live with his father like he and his siblings were.
"My dears, I'm so sorry I wasn't able to be there for you during those times, but I am here now, and I want to know if your father has dared to lay his hands on you." Ms Schmidt gently asked them, her question loaded as each of the siblings tensed at her question.
Seeing them tense at their words, Ms Schmidt let out a soft sigh as they needed more reassurance from her.
"I understand if you all feel uncomfortable about it, since I know how it feels to be open and let yourself be vulnerable about this. Believe me, so I won't press for details about it, I want you all to tell me when you feel ready to say more. Alright, my children?" Ms Schmidt gave them all a soft smile, as she didn't wish for her children to feel forced to say their traumatic experiences now. They should feel comfortable talking about this to her, as she is their mother and only wants them to be safe.
The tension between the three siblings lessened at their mother's words, Michael most considerably, as he didn't want to say anything in front of his siblings. They didn't need to know about him showing weakness, how much of a monster their father was.
"Thank you, mummy." Elizabeth returned the hug with some enthusiasm, releasing a breath she didn't know she was holding in.
"Love you mummy." C.C squeezed back into their mom's tight hug, nuzzling into the crook of her arm with affection.
As for Michael, he muttered a half-hearted thanks with a light hug of his own. With this said and done the Afton siblings and mother, collectively decided through silence to keep things between themselves as this conversation would happen again but rather as a whole, it would be one on one. They could only avoid this topic for so long before it would be brought up again sometime in the future, as maybe as they might be able to talk about their father.
Outside the room with the others, Henry did his best to keep Charlie busy so she wouldn't worry about her honorary cousins. His solution, letting her talk with the sentient animatronics, who seemed to be thankful for the distraction as well. It seemed Fredbear and Security Puppet took more on entertaining Charlie, while SpringBonnie was the one who kept quiet. Henry wasn't sure whether to idly chat with him as he was a bit hesitant for the most part, for one that he and William technically created the animatronics for their diner, and yet here were sentient ones. Secondly despite them being sentient, he remembered that they created the duo (crossing fingers that they would be iconic in the future, unlike that dumb-looking mouse with his small growing popularity with children), that he and William used each other for their personality type.
William created Fredbear and used Henry as a base in mind, while he used William as a base for SpringBonnie. So Henry would like to think his wariness was justified by his reluctance in talking with SpringBonnie, it seemed when he was silent that it gave off the same vibe as how William would think deeply.
In the corner of his eye, SpringBonnie caught Henry looking at him not so subtly with a nervousness written all over his face, to which the mechanical rabbit chalked it up that the human had gas or something. That was a thing organic lifeforms did, right?
