Jake could have been jealous of Heeseung.
While Jake had built his entire personality around pleasing and charming others, in just a couple of days, Heeseung had become one of the most popular individuals on campus, at the heart of every gossip and in every girls' dreams. In just a twist of a wrist.
But the take was that, even if he knew how to attract everyone's attention, Heeseung's own attention was turned to only one person,
Jake.
And the latter was very aware of that.
That's how Jake wasn't jealous. Wether it was all an act or just a little real, being treated so specially made him swell with pride.
Heeseung could very much see this pride, and it amused him deeply. This attention he was offering Jake was a poisoned gift, and even if it was best if it never actually put Jake in danger, Heeseung was still hoping Jake would come to regret being so naive and happy about such attention.
However, this secret battle taking place between the two boys had a whole other look for outsiders. Jake was not the only one to see how Heeseung was looking at him, and of course, it quickly sparked a rumor.
"What!?? Heeseung and I, dating??" chocked Jake.
Jungwon bursted out laughing at Jake's reaction, while Sunoo explained,
"Well, you've never introduced anyone as your best friend before, ever. You're not the most touchy-feely guy we know either, but this Heeseung guy is all over you all the time and you don't seem to mind. Also...he's looking at you this way."
"What way?"
"Like...," hesitated Sunoo.
"Like he wants to eat you up," cut Jungwon.
Sunoo slapped Jungwon's arm, while Jake's face was slowly flushing up.
"I'll tell you a secret guys," finally said Jake. "Heeseung isn't my best friend."
His two friends stopped bickering and turned to him, all ears, ready for a crazy declaration.
"We're not even friends. This is all an act."
Sunoo and Jungwon were on the verge of their seat, not understanding what Jake meant.
"We actually hate each other."
All tension disappeared and the two boys loudly expressed their disappointment. But Jake kept going,
"He thinks he'll manage to annoy me enough into giving up on becoming his friend, that's why he's so clingy. But I'll take this opportunity to get closer to him.""This promise of being everyone's friend you made when we were kids is nearing the obsession, Jakey. You should be careful with this one. I heard rumors about him being part of some seriously shady business," said Sunoo, genuinely worried.
"Yes, and everyone remember this flashy car and this gangster-looking guy he was with at the school gates not too long ago," added Jungwon.
Jake shrugged and laughed, he was confident in his plan.
The only thing that may have worried him, was the tingling.
