Cut short

As Jake said, love hurts.

His relationship with Heeseung did land, but it wasn't the most ideal situation. They could meet and touch and kiss, but Jake would never know when would be the next time. Between each short session of affection, they became strangers once again.

Jake was famously the most social being on campus since his big brother, so naturally, he had a hard time dealing with loneliness.

In Heeseung, Jake had found something he never felt with anyone else. The way he felt about himself and who he was when he was with him was unique and groundbreaking to him, which made his absence all the more unbearable.

Thankfully, everytime he'd get to caress Heeseung's face and kiss his lips, all the loneliness would simply disappear. Until their eye contact would break again and they'd part for an unknown amount of time.

"You're sighing," laughed Heeseung.

"Of course I am. We haven't talked to each other in weeks, and Summer Break is approaching, which mean we won't be able to meet at school."

"Are you already thinking about that? You're really serious about me!" joked Heeseung, laughing again.

Jake didn't reply and sighed again.

Less than an hour later, Heeseung had put his cold mask back on and had blended with the crowd.

Their little lover-stranger roller-coaster went on for a long while without anyone knowing. The two boys felt more and more comfortable in this arrangement and were getting better at hiding.

Or so they thought.

Then one day, Heeseung disappeared.

"I'm home! I heard my parents are back."

The huge man Heeseung was addressing bowed, then nodded,

"They're back and are waiting for you."

"Thank you."

"Young Master?"

"Mh?"

"They don't seem in a good mood, something must have happened."

Heeseung wondered for a second what it could be, but headed towards the living room, not too worried.

Heeseung was close with his parents but they weren't living together. The two of them had another house in the middle of the city, where they would oversee their businesses.

The two of them would only come home for holidays, business in the area, or like in this case, problems, which was sheerly often.

"Mom, dad, did you travel safe?"

Heeseung was expecting the usual cheerful greeting from his over energetic father, but instead, his words were swallowed into a cold silence.

The spacious living room seemed unusually cold and dark, and in the middle of it, his parents were sitting, looking grave.

"Heeseung," breathed his father, signing for him to come sit next to him.

Heeseung obeyed and listened, now a bit more worried.

"We heard you made friend with a civilian."
Heeseung stayed silent.
"Actually, it's more than friends, isn't it, Heeseung?"

Heeseung's father took out some pictures and displayed them in front of his son.

Jake and him being cozy with each other at school, where they thought no one could see them.

"Don't think it makes us laugh to have infringed into your privacy like this, but ever since Peter had to drop you off to this unknown neighborhood, we decided to investigate."

"This has been going on for a while, hasn't it, dear?" said Heeseung's mom.

Heeseung nodded, his face contrite. He was trying to keep his hands from trembling, grasping his knees.

How did they get found out? Heeseung was sure to have been careful. What's more, at school, where he wasn't supposed to be in danger at all.

"We don't think any rival group knows about the situation yet, but you know this relationship puts this boy in great danger. So, you'll understand, son, if we ask you to stop this."

"But, dad-"

The gangster-looking man with his face so alike to Heeseung seemed suddenly even taller.

"This isn't a question, it is an order. Put your feelings aside and forget about this little flirt."

"I tried, dad! I- I can't, he's -"

A slap echoed across the room.

"Since it's so hard, I'll call the head master tomorrow and you'll finish this year from home or in another city. Be grateful we let you continue your studies at all, since we promised."

Heeseung stayed frozen in his seat, holding his sore cheek, while his parents were leaving their chairs.

"We're very sorry baby," said his mom, giving him a kiss on the head before leaving the room.

The next day, Lee Heeseung of the Southern Uni had ceased to exist.
