Jake was trying to calm his breathing to hear what was going on around him.

"This kid never had anyone approach him before. To think he'd finally have a friend."

Several voices were talking on the other side of a door.

"Let's hope this new weakness is weak enough. If this succeeds, the big boss will reward us."

"Yeah, we don't need these foreigners in our streets! The families doing business with them have sullied their own names. They can't be trusted."

Jake could only hear half the words. Even if it was loud enough, panic was turning him deaf. All his senses were overwhelmed and he was starting to think he had made a very serious mistake this time.

He was blindfolded and gagged, lying on a cold concrete floor, in an isolated room. Light could still be perceived from under his blindfold, adding to his distress. He didn't know if making the smallest noise could get him punched or killed.

Earlier that day, Jake had heard two suspicious men, near uni, talking about Heeseung. They were contemplating kidnapping his new friend as a mean of pressure. So, after some twisted reasoning, Jake decided to get kidnapped instead.

All that just to get Heeseung's attention.

The experience had been way worse than he had imagined until now. His entire body was hurting and he was freezing.

But it was ok. Heeseung would come to get him as soon as he would hear about his disappearance from the kidnappers.

At least, that was Jake's plan.

As he was trembling, curled into a corner, the door opened. A man grabbed Jake to make him stand up and seated him on a metal chair. He removed the blindfold and gag, and Jake fell face-to-face with the boss of the little group.

"Alright. You're still in good shape, great. We don't want you to get too damaged."
Jake was trying to calm his trembling.
"Listen, we won't hurt you if you cooperate, ok? Our real target is your friend, we need a way to contact him quickly."

One of the other man put Jake's phone in the hand of his boss who handed it to Jake.

Imagining what he would say to Heeseung, Jake realized that by letting himself get abducted he had probably brought more problems to Heeseung than simply having to come pick him up. They would probably blackmail him, maybe hurt him.

"I- I'm not sure he will answer. He usually ignore my calls, and-"

"Are you telling me you're actually useless to us?"

Jake swallowed with difficulty.

"It's just that Heeseung-"

The boss cut him. When Jake heard the following words, he became pale and a cold shiver ran through his body,

"Heeseung? Who's Heeseung?"

Did Jake get confused? But who else could these mobsters have talked about when talking about a friendless mafia heir?? How many students could even fit that description?

"Well, my friend," insisted Jake.

"Your...friend?"
The boss got up. His face had darkened and his tone was not trying to coax anymore, it was menacing.
"You told us your friend was the one we were looking for, and the one we're looking for is the heir to the Nishimura group:
Nishimura Riki.
Who the hell is Heeseung?"

A man came to whisper to the boss' ear.

"Oh," said the latter. "Did you lie to us?" Jake stayed frozen on his sit, unable to think. "You thought this was a game, right? How sad. It's too late to let you go now."

The gangster raised his hand to give an order. However, before he could say anything, Jake shouted,

"My parents are rich!!!"
The man stopped, and lowered his hand.
"My parents are filthy rich. I can let you call my father! You ask him any amount and he'll deliver!"

The boss jumped to grab Jake's hair, spitting to his face,

"You seem a little too keen to give us your parents' info. It's suspicious."

"Why, I hate them," replied Jake, forcing a wide smile on his face, his eyes not smiling along.
"Why would I not implicate them in my bullshit? They'll simply send money to get over this and avoid scandal at all cost anyway. It wouldn't be the first time. Money is answer to everything."

Jake almost didn't have to lie. The man's expression relaxed and a greedy smile spread on his face.

"I see...," he laughed.
"You're a pretty pathetic kid."

Jake couldn't disagree with that.

Once again, the man handed Jake his phone.

"Type the numbers, and I'll do the talking."
