If Heeseung had simply started ignoring him again, Jake would have been able to throw a tantrum or blackmail him again, but he just...was not there.
Jake did not even try to be discreet when asking around about Heeseung. He raked the entire uni in search of a "friend" Heeseung may have had.
After his maniacal search, he started to despair. He stopped eating, would only come to school to stare in front of him, and would spend his nights waiting for his phone to ring.
Seeing how crazy Jake was becoming, his friends found no other solution but to try by all means to make him forget about Heeseung.
"Hey, let's go out tonight again, alright?" said Jungwon, while Jake was wearing the same dead face he's had for the past few weeks.
"Oh yeah! Also, let's do something this weekend! It's been a while since we've gone shopping together!"
They were putting their heart into keeping Jake busy, while also keeping him alive.
And it worked!
A little...
In fact, Jake managed to stop thinking about Heeseung constantly, at least not when he was out with friends or studying.
Only when he would put his head on his pillow, take a shower or eat on his own in the kitchen, would he inexplicably start crying.
He wasn't exactly missing Heeseung, since they never spent that much time together in the first place. It was more the knowledge that he would never get to see him again. Never feel what he made him feel and never see his face again.
Jake was feeling abandoned, betrayed and humiliated. Heeseung had left so easily, without even a text.
Jake had come to the conclusion that he probably was just a fun experience to Heeseung. Even if, to Jake, Heeseung had been what he had always searched for...
And now, he had lost it forever.
Uni ended, and summer break went on like any other summer Jake ever had. Parties after parties, traveling all across the globe, even starting hooking up with random people.
Real university student experience!
But when school started again, his mood went back to exactly where it was before.
Until he saw that Heeseung had came back...
Then, his mood got even worse.Beside the fact that he was even hotter than the year before, with his longer hair, and beside the fact that he was ignoring Jake just as much, what made Jake really mad, was that now, Heeseung apparently had a friend.
Laughing with him and walking alongside him was a very tall and intimidating first year. With beautiful thin eyes and a ridiculously long neck.
Jake felt like going berserk at this moment, when he saw them pass him by in the uni corridor on the third day of uni.
So, apparently Heeseung was allowed to have friends now? He was allowed to have someone to make him laugh and with whom he could be himself?
Who the hell allowed that?
As expected, Heeseung was not mysterious, he was just one big lie.
A waterfall of contained emotions was leaking from Jake's mind, keeping him from thinking straight. He had to make Heeseung pay!
The waterfall flowed for several weeks, within which Jake tried a diversity of methods:
Making Heeseung jealous by flirting with other people in front of him, ignoring him while always staying within his sight, making up false rumors about him...
That's around one month after school started that Jake was presented with the idea of the century. He found the very situation that would trigger Heeseung's attention, as well as his misery.
It was risky, but Jake had nothing to lose.
*
Heeseung was staring at his ringing phone. He had stared so many times at this name, glowing on his dark screen, always tempted to answer.
He would have ignored it this time again, if the rain hadn't started to fall at this very moment.
"..."
"Who is asking?" breathed Heeseung into the speaker.
"..."
"Which son?"
