“Incident”
Cars were driving on the busy street while people walked on the footpath. On the other side, Ji-ho stood outside a toy shop looking at a toy car. He really wanted it but didn't have enough money. He thought he might ask his dad later.
He sighed and walked toward his flat.
His building was close to his school, so he decided to walk home by himself. He wanted to see his new neighbourhood up close. Ji-ho loved exploring new things and had always been a curious child. His father didn't know he was walking alone because he never allowed it. Usually, a driver picked him up from school, and his father dropped him off in the morning.
Today Ji-ho wanted to walk by himself. He had sent his driver away but told him not to tell his father. The driver didn't want to agree at first because his job was to take the little boy home safely. But when Ji-ho wouldn't listen, the driver agreed. However, he stayed in his car and followed Ji-ho from a distance to make sure he was safe.
They had been living in this new area for two days, and Ji-ho really liked it. The people here were friendly and normal, not like the rich people from their old neighbourhood who never even said hello.
Ji-ho was a nice kid who loved making new friends.
He clutched his books tightly to his chest as he walked along the pavement. Before long, he found himself in a quiet spot, though not too quiet. He glanced around and realized he was just two blocks from his apartment building.
But then he noticed a small puppy sitting peacefully in the middle of the road, which was way too dangerous for it. Little Ji-ho felt a wave of worry for the poor puppy.
He dashed over to the puppy before putting his books in his bag .
"Hey there, cute puppy! What are you doing here? It’s dangerous, you know?" He wrapped his arms around the little puppy and was about to stand up when he spotted a black car speeding toward him.
At the same time, his driver got distracted by a call from his wife, didn’t see Ji-ho was in danger.
The poor boy's legs turned to jelly, trembling with fear. He was too scared to even run.
He held the puppy tightly and shut his eyes, shaking in fear, "Ap—
Just then, someone swooped in to save him, and it was none other than Jimin, who arrived just in time.
"What the heck were you doing, kid? Are you out of your mind? Didn’t your parents tell you not to stand in the road? Huh! Are you even listening to me?
Where are your parents? I need to talk to them... how can they be so careless?"
Jimin yelled at him, and the little boy pouted before suddenly wrapping his tiny arms around Jimin's legs and started crying.
Jimin was taken aback and tried to push him away, but Ji-ho clung to him and the puppy as well.
"I’m sorry! I was just trying to help this puppy... B-but thank you for saving us," he said innocently, looking up at Jimin with tear-filled eyes. Jimin's heart melted, but he quickly averted his gaze.
Ji-ho took Jimin's hands and gazed into his eyes, and that’s when Jimin realized he had seen this little boy earlier that morning.
So, he was the son of his new neighbor.
Ji-ho sulked, tugging at his shirt to get his attention. He thought he recognized him from somewhere but couldn't quite place it. Jimin glanced at him, clearly irritated. "What do you want, kid?"
Jimin was really annoyed. He wasn't a fan of kids, so he shoved Ji-ho's hands away and started to walk off. But Ji-ho chased after him, still cradling the puppy like a little baby.
