At the gate of the Imperial Palace, an entire ceremonial set up had been made for the depart of King Alistair IV of Drakonia and his delegation.

Soldiers in ceremonial uniforms, orchestra playing songs in the background, smiling children giving flowers to the Drakonian, everything had been made to show the appreciation the French Empire had toward the Kingdom of Drakonia.

Aether even gifted Alistair a car, a brand new Delahaye 135 for his personal use.

"I hereby thank Your Imperial Majesty for the moving welcome you and your people gave us" Alistair lightly bowed.

Originally, the Drakonian delegation should had gone back to the Kingdom weeks ago, but with the sudden pledge of allegiance from Alistair after the French victory in a border conflict with Ostlandia, the matters became much more complicated.

France and Drakonia had to go through numerous meetings to decide a common economic, military and social plan. Vassalizing a country would only lead the Empire to waste an absurd amount of money if both aren't on the same page.

"As for you..." Alistair hold his daughter's hands "It's time for you to find your own purpose in this world"

"Be careful on the way Father" Ariane hugged him.

"Don't worry, with the Hussars of His Majesty, I have nothing to fear" Alistair hugged his daughter back.

When the two separated, King Alistair IV entered his car, who's drove away from the Imperial Palace.

Ariane shed a tear from her eye, she felt sad she wouldn't be able to see him for a long time.

"You will see him again, don't worry" Aether reassured her "He is probably the best father a little girl can have"

"He is" Ariane confirmed.

"... But as Monarch, we saw way better than him" Aether added before going back inside the Imperial Palace.

"E-Eh ?!?" Ariane was a little taken aback, she wasn't accustomed yet with how direct people could be in this country.

"Sister, what is this object ?" Asako asked, pointing at the phone on the desk.

Inside the Shinbutsu embassy of Charlemagne, the diplomatic personnel of the Shinbutsu Empire was installing themselves in the building provided to them.

Aether personally demanded that the embassy had to be built in a traditional Japanese style, being the closest similar to the Shinbutsu culture.

"This is a phone" Otsune explained "A device that allow to communicate with anyone in possession with one of those"

"So it's like our mental lines, but without spiritual power ?"

"Humans might not have any energy like other races, but they are by far the most adaptable of us" Otsune replied "Do you remember how long it took us to obtain steeled warships ?"
