Operation Superboy

Author's note, this chapter contains medical gore, I'm just saying that now. Funny how the most amount of gore in media can sometimes involve plain medical anatomy operations. You may want to skip this one if you're queasy.

Wally then grabbed Kori, Tim, and Cassie and immediately rushed them out of the Fortress of Solitude. A minute later, he came back and Wally said, "you guys focus on getting Connor out. I'll handle your mom, Kevin." The Green Lantern nodded and said, "thanks Wally. Batgirl, the moment we get Superboy out of The Phantom Zone, close the portal." Batgirl said on the radio, "roger that." Kevin and Olympia then went into The Phantom Zone, looking for Conner. But Olympia saw him, as a couple minutes before getting the others out, Olympia said to Conner that she would get him out next. Conner looked at Olympia and said with a hopeful smile, "you came back..."

"Of course we would," said Olympia. She and Kevin grabbed onto Superboy as they floated out of The Phantom Zone. "Conner, I apologize in advance, this is going to hurt a lot," warned Kevin as the three got out of the portal. Wally was outside the portal, waiting. "Where'd you take Andrea?" Kevin asked. "Abu Dhabi," said Wally. "It's great to see you again Wally," said Conner as he smiled, but then he started to cough violently, coughing out blood. Olympia said on her earpiece, "Isaac, activate the red solar lights in the operating room. We're bringing Conner in." Batgirl said on the radio, "The Phantom Zone portal is deactivated." Kevin picked up Olympia and carried her bridal style while Wally grabbed on to Conner, and they left The Fortress. They then made it to Olympia's spaceship, and Wally put Conner in the operating room, placing him on the operating table as Olympia flew out into outer space. "Welcome Conner Kent," said Isaac as he removed Conner's Superboy shirt, "I am Olympia's assistant robot Isaac. I am also an expert surgeon, and I will be performing your operation to remove your punctured heart and replace it with a functional heart." The robot put a breathing mask on Conner's nose and mouth, the oxygen containing anesthesia. This put Conner to sleep as Olympia came in, activating her organ cloning machine.

She took a sample of Conner's blood and put it in the machine, typing specifics of what to replicate. "The machine is replicating a human/Kryptonian heart as we speak," stated Olympia. Kevin came in and asked, "did we fly to another planet?" Olympia nodded and said, "yes. We're on Jupiter. How tender is Conner's flesh, Isaac?" The robot touched Conner's skin, cut some of his hair, and said, "flesh is tender enough for operation. Proceeding with operation." Olympia washed her hands, put on sanitary gloves, looked at Kevin and Wally, and she warned, "you boys may want to look away for this."

Isaac got out a scalpel and started to cut at the center of Conner's chest, exposing his flesh. His ribs were then separated, exposing his punctured heart. Isaac removed the punctured heart and gave it to Olympia. She properly disposed of the damaged heart while replacing her old gloves with new sanitary gloves, and by then, the cloning machine had replicated a brand new human/Kryptonian heart. She held the heart in her hands and said, "it should be compatible. Now to carefully place it inside Conner's chest..." She carefully placed the brand new organ inside where a regular heart usually belongs in, and Isaac proceeded to close down the ribcage so that the new heart would be protected. Isaac then started to sew Connor's skin back into his chest until it was all sewn back together. Suddenly, the red solar lights turned yellow.

"Kryptonians gain their powers when their anatomy is fueled by the yellow rays of Earth's sun," explained Olympia, "I've switched the red solar lights into yellow solar lights so that Conner's body can start healing. How's the heart working, Isaac?" The robot scanned Conner and replied, "replicated heart is functioning properly. Conner Kent will live. Operation successful. I would advise removing the stitches in two days." Kevin and Wally laughed in relief as Olympia left the operating room, getting into the pilot's seat. "Man, it's strange enough that Olympia looks a bit like Alex Kingston, and here she is doing open heart surgery just like that actress's character on ER," joked Kevin. "Alex Kingston? I'd say Olympia looks a lot more like Rebecca Gayheart," said Wally. "It's the hair, isn't it?" Kevin asked. "Yep. She's got wild curly hair just like those two," said Wally. "Setting coordinates for Earth," said Olympia, "we're off to your Insurgency base." The spaceship then left Jupiter and Kevin contacted Barbara, saying, "Green Lantern to Batgirl, Superboy's operation was a success, I repeat, Superboy's operation was a success! We're heading back to the Insurgency base right now."

"Batgirl to Green Lantern, that's great to hear." Barbara replied on the radio, "Charity's there too. We'll have a bed ready for Conner so that he can rest." Kevin nodded and said, "sounds good. Can't wait to see you back there. I love you, Barbara." Babs replied on the radio, "I love you too, Kevin." 20 minutes later, the spaceship landed inside the Insurgency base, and the three heroes came out of the spaceship, with Conner lying on a floating green rug from Kevin's ring. The first to greet them were Tim, Barbara, and Charity. Olympia embraced Charity in a hug and said, "great to see you, your majesty." Tim shyly said, "hey Olympia... I forgot to tell you, I'm Tim Drake by the way." Olympia smiled and said, "it's nice to properly meet you, Tim. I'm Olympia Affair. As you can tell, I'm a good friend of Charity's." Kevin smiled and said, "it's a welcome surprise to see you, Charity. What brings our favorite secret supporter over here?" Kevin gave Conner to Wally and Charity explained, "Superman's got his hands full with those prime counterparts of the Justice League, so now is the perfect time for me to go back to Crystalia and regain my rightful throne as the true heir to the Crystal Empire."

As Wally took Conner to a bed to rest, Kevin asked, "so you're going back to your home planet to confront your mom?" Charity gave a determined look and said, "precisely darling." Olympia bounced and said, "I'm basically her ride." Tim gave a slightly disappointed look and said to Olympia, "ah shoot. I was gonna ask if you would've wanted to hang out or get some coffee. Or ice cream." Olympia blushed sweetly and said, "oh believe me Tim, you're a nice guy and I'd love to hang out with you too. But, Crystalia needs their true queen. If you want, we could exchange the numbers of our cellular phones, and if our overthrowing of Ruby Tafita is a success, we can hang out then." Tim smiled and said, "works for me." After exchanging numbers and getting everything prepared, Tim, Kevin, and Barbara were outside with Charity and Olympia to say their final goodbyes. "Good luck and be safe," encouraged Kevin, "and just remember, no matter what happens, you'll always be welcome here on Earth." Barbara nodded and said, "try not to be a stranger, and like Kevin said, be safe." Charity beamed and said, "thank you all for granting me refuge here on Earth. I hope I see you all again soon." Charity and Olympia then got in the spaceship, leaving Earth to go to Crystalia.
