Your POV:
As Desme stands inside the small hut with you, he hands you a cup of tea. Upon handing it to you, however, he fails to mention how hot it is. As you take a hold of the cup, you gasp and immediately drop it.
As the boiling liquid now stains your pillow and your hands turn red and blistered from the impact of the heat, Desme profusely apologizes for his actions.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm so sorry! I didn't realize the tea was so hot!" Desme grabs a bowl filled with ice water before grabbing your hand with his. "Here. Let me-"
"No!" You immediately pull your hands away from him before placing them behind your back. "That's ice cold water! It'll make it even worse!"
"I..." Desme face palms himself before warming the pot of water up with his hands. "I almost forgot...I'm so sorry, (Y/n)." You sigh before placing your hands into the now warm bowl of water.
"It's okay, Desme. Everyone makes mistakes. Even if they are a little...lethal..."
As you take your hands out of the water and give Desme a generous smile, he dejectedly shakes his head from side to side before placing the bowl down, a frown on his face.
"I don't deserve this generosity." You raise an eyebrow as the man says this. "Huh? What do you mean?"
Desme looks down, a guilty expression on his face. "It means just what it means." He then proceeds to list multiple things off the top of his mind, never once looking up.
"First, I let you get shot by arrows. Then, I almost let Azula attack you with her bending and now, I almost damage your wounds even more? I don't deserve to see that beautiful smile on your face."
You blush as Desme says this. "I...beautiful?" As he nods and falls back against a pillow, a disheartened look on his face, you chuckle. Crawling over towards Desme, you place a hand on his chest, causing the young man to look up at you.
"Desme. Listen to me. You did nothing wrong. You were just following orders and didn't want to get hurt. I perfectly understand where you're coming from."
Desme gives you a hopeful smile. "You do?" You nod your head. "Yes. I do." The man in front of you smiles before tightly engulfing you in a hug, completely forgetting about the wounds in your stomach.
"I knew you'd understand. You're just so empathetic. Always putting yourself in other's shoes." Desme dreamily sighs. "I wish I could be more like you..."
"Desme...You're crushing...me..."
"You're smart, beautiful, caring. You must have a very lucky husband..."
"...it hurts..." Desme gaze darkens as he tightens his grip against you, unaware of how much he's hurting you. "That lucky bastard. He better be treating you right because if he isn't, then I wi-"
"DESME!"
"Huh?" As the man looks down to see you on the verge of passing out, he immediately lets go before slowly backing away.
"Sorry..."
You take a deep breath of air before holding up a hand. "No. It's okay. It was an accident so, there's no need to worry..."
"Are you sure?" You nod your head. "Yes. Plus, we've got more important matters to attend to." The man tilts his head to the side as you say this. "Important matters? Important matters like what?" You bite your lip in thought.
"When you came to my aid yesterday, Azula saw what you did. And, since you work for her father, she could easily rat you out."
"Oh..." Desme looks down. "I guess your right..."
