A night meant for sounds of moaning and passionate lovemaking turned out to be a night of deafening silence between Ayotunde and Peace. Peace was yet to fully recover from the shock that came with Ayotunde's reaction to her drama. Her shock was coming from the fact that she has never lost any argument throughout their years of dating. Ayotunde has always been cool and easy-going, sometimes, he apologized in advance even if he was right. She could not recover from the shock of what has happened, in the midst of her several thoughts, the thoughts of her mother's words on what marriage is really all about came to her mind and she almost broke down into tears. She has refused to listen to most of her mother's warnings in the name of "it can never happen to me," part of what her mother warned her to look out for was what just happened. She remained quiet and stayed on her side of the bed with no words.
At the other end of the bed, Ayotunde decided to go back to his many pending works on his apple personal computer. Although, he could not concentrate, he continued to stare at the computer with nothing really seriously going on. "Your woman will provoke you to anger many times more than your heart beats per second, but never should you react because she is a woman and she is emotional with practically everything." The words of his father came hunting his conscience. He remembered asking why his father was always very gentle and soft with their mother whom everyone knew to be hot tempered, yet, remained in control of the house and even their mother. "Women are like babies or better still, like teenagers, you don't get them to just respect you, you earn the respect from them, if you are too hard on them, they will become frightened and start fearing you and that can be dangerous especially in a marriage. Being too soft won't help the situation any better as well, but remember, it is always about carrot and stick diplomacy without overdoing any part, you are the man and you should not act based on your emotions alone but with reasons." Ayotunde continued to reminisce. He was deep in the thoughts of many of his father's words when Seun's message suddenly popped up on the screen of his phone.
"Brotherly, you are not expected to be online o. Put off that phone and go and be with your wife. Were, fi ise sile for a while now, won sepe ise fun e ni. Anyways, just to update you that our best lady is the real deal. Did you even know that part of her name is Florence?" I will give you the full gist when we get to work on Monday sha." He read on his phone and just smiled. He looked over to his woman's side and was further broken to see just lying down there. It was almost 2am in the night. "Never go to bed with an angry heart, make sure your resolve every issue before you sleep" His father's words came to him again. It was at that point he closed his system. He came back to cover Peace with their duvet and moved closer to her.
"Ife Mi" he said calmly to her ears.
