"Mommy!" Peace exclaimed upon picking her Mom's call while struggling with the door of her car.
"I just said I should try my luck ni o, since we have no idea of you people's plan anymore"
"Mom, it is not that jare. I just needed to be at work today to further process my leave and..."
"That is okay my baby. I am no longer interested in the details. The details are now meant only for your husband. How are you doing, hope you are not too stressed already?"
"Mom, it is not easy o. You did not explain everything that is bound to happen o" She said settling down in the driver's seat while they both laughed at her accusation.
"Well, no one ever knows it all when it comes to marriage. You will be learning every day ni o, you are in a school where you have graduated before even starting class and you even have your certificate already, so my dear, you will have to face it all squarely ni o" her mother explained.
"Hmmm...it is well, we even had minor..."
"You don't need to tell me anymore baby girl except it becomes something too unbearable that you must voice out. As I told you before your marriage, the bond you are craving will only come when you two have problems, face it together and solve it together without any third party interference. The only time you are permitted to seek help is if it is life threatening which I am so sure will not get to that level..."
"Nawa o...so I cannot gist you my mother about what I have started facing in my marriage?"
"It is just too early ni or don't you think so? Gist you can give me now is about you missing your period. Ehn ehn, that one, I will gladly listened to the gist. Not how you missed your period of course, but how to handle the days ahead"
"I kuku have a reliable friend I can always tell everything if you don't want to listen to my gist. How is everyone at home by the way especially my Daddy"
"Did you just say a reliable friend?" Her mother asked with a concerned mind.
"Yes now, Omolola and I just finished gisting about..."
"Haaaa....Peace!!!" her mother exclaimed.
"Ma?"
"There is no reliable friend anywhere especially in our gender. For the love of God, keep your family gist to yourself. You are now a married woman, it is not everything that happens in your marriage that third party must know of, not even your so called best friend. Haaa...everyone is saving their head these days ni o" her Mother concluded.
"Hmmm...it is okay sha, I have heard you eshey ma. Now I know better."
"Please we will talk about this better another time, my husband is around and I need to get his food ready immediately. He must be hungry" her mom expressed and before she could utter anymore words, the call was already over. Just like that.
She turned on the ignition of her car and started heading home immediately. Throughout her short journey home, she continued to think about her mother's words and instantly, she wished she has not shared it all with her friends.
"What was I even thinking?" She lamented hitting her steering wheel as she continued her journey.
Her mother's wordscontinued to hunt her conscience as she headed home.
