"Miss Soleil ordered the agents we sent as spies to return as soon as possible."

"Oh? Are they done with their jobs already?"

"Yes. She wants to prevent any danger for the spies as well."

"Ah, that's a shame. She could have utilized them to sabotage the main camps, but she must have her reasons," Childe said with a shrug.

The Eleventh Harbinger had just finished a personal assignment of scouting the premises. Although it wasn't necessary, Soleil knew he would be too bored and kept him busy so he stays out of her quarters.

Childe made a short detour towards a cave hidden behind a waterfall, where Soleil's captives were hidden. Noticing his return, a Fatui captain reported what happened to his boss.

But to the surprise of the captain, Childe made less comments on Soleil taking over the directives. The captain looked at Childe's back profile confusingly.

"You seem fairly unbothered with her decisions, Master Childe," he commented as he followed after Childe. The Harbinger chuckled.

"Soleil works in mysterious ways," Childe said jokingly, "Kind of like gods...except that she'll kill me if she heard me comparing her to them."

The Fatui captain was flabbergasted. What kind of person was the scholar that even their Lord Harbinger would speak wryly at the thought of offending her?

Come to think of it, senior Javert is strangely reverent when it comes to her wishes and requests, the captain thought.

But who is he to question his own senior? He's been around for far longer than he was. Eight years or more, probably?

Childe looked over his shoulder, finding the captian pursing his lips. He hummed amusingly.

"You should really learn how to hide your thoughts a little better," he said, "A mask can only hide your face, not your body language."

The captain flinched and sputtered. "Apologies, Master Childe!" he said, bowing. Childe chuckled as he raised the entrance to an isolated tent inside the cave.

His lips curled into a predatory smirk at the sight of the two captives bound in ropes and blindfolded. They were tied to a pair of chairs, their backs against each other.

"Don't think too much on what is asked of you, and just do as you're told," he said and walked into the tent.

"Y-Yes, sir..." The captain replied. He stood back straight, watching hesitantly as Childe approached the two hostages while the tent entrance closed.

Javert was standing in the shadows watchfully. He turned his head as Childe walked closer, adjusting his black gloves with a foreboding smirk.

"So, these are the ones we swapped out with the spies. Say, have they said anything?" he asked.

The blindfolded captives flinched, feeling the atmosphere get dark and dangerous. Though they cannot see, their instincts were honed. Whether they had information on who was speaking, they were certain of one thing: they were in the presence of someone capable of murder.

Javert bowed his head before responding. "No, Master Childe. It's been two days, but the captives remain silent. They refuse all kinds of food we give them unless it was first tasted by Miss Soleil in front of them," he said.

Childe frowned. "Soleil did what now?" he scoffed before staring coldly at the blindfolded men in front of him, "I'm alright with treating these soldiers a little more humanly possible, but she's going a little too far with poison testing the food herself. Don't you agree?"
