[ 2021 OF JANUARY ] - A WEEK AND A HALF LATER
⎯⎯ ୨ THIRD PERSON'S ୧ ⎯⎯
The sound of laughter and footsteps echoed through the halls of Kala's house as the members of ENHYPEN stepped inside. The familiarity of the place put them at ease, but something was different this time. The warmth they usually associated with Kala's home felt oddly muted.
"I thought we were supposed to surprise her?" Ni-ki said, glancing around the empty living room. "Where's Kala?"
The nanny, an older woman with a gentle demeanor, approached them from the kitchen. "Miss Kala left early this morning for work," she said. "She hasn't returned yet."
Sunghoon frowned, checking his watch. It was already past dinner time. "Did she mention when she'd be back?"
"She didn't," the nanny admitted. "But she's been quite busy these days. She's probably just caught up with something."
"Well, it's not like her to stay out this late without telling anyone," Heeseung muttered.
The nanny smiled faintly. "She's strong, that one, but don't let her fool you. She forgets to take care of herself sometimes. Please keep an eye on her tonight."
"Don't worry. We've got it covered," Jungwon assured her.
The nanny gave them a list of instructions about dinner and other household details before heading home. As the door clicked shut behind her, the boys exchanged uncertain looks.
"She's always been like this, hasn't she?" Sunghoon remarked, sinking onto the couch. "Acting like she's fine even when she's clearly not."
"Yeah, but this feels... different," Jay said. "Lately, she's been overworking herself to the point where it's worrying."
"Let's not overthink it," Jungwon said, though his furrowed brow betrayed his concern. "She'll be home soon. Let's eat dinner and wait for her."

After dinner, the boys cleaned up the kitchen, their movements slower than usual as they tried to distract themselves from the growing unease. Ni-ki flopped onto the couch, scrolling through his phone while Sunoo and Jake set up a board game on the coffee table.
