Everyone got taken care of. Elijah, like the others, had stitches. A bandage was wrapped around his stomach and his arm. There was nothing going on in his mind as he was smoking. It just helped to take his mind off of what happened last night and calmed his anxieties.
They lost Anika. He lost his ex-girlfriend and current girlfriend.
Why did his dating partners always have to be ripped away from him?
One of the paramedics came up to Elijah and his friends. Sam was taking a smoke as well and was talking to Danny.
"It appears that one of your friends is still alive." The paramedic told them, getting their interest.
"Who is it?" Tara inquired.
"Quinn Bailey." That answer shocked them all.
Especially, Elijah.
"She's alive?" He asked incredulously.
"Yes, she is and she should be doing just fine," The paramedic assured him. "She passed out from the blood loss, so we gave her a blood transfusion. She had five lacerations, and we gave her some stitches, but we'd like to keep her overnight for a couple of days."
"Can I see her?" Elijah threw his cigarette to the ground and crushed it with his shoe. "I'm her boyfriend, by the way."
"Sure, we're just about to take her to the hospital." Elijah followed the paramedic to where Quinn was.
He saw his girlfriend lying on the gurney near an ambulance. She was asleep and looked bloody and scarred all over her body. His heart broke for her.
"Quinn?" Elijah softly called.
Quinn stirred awake and slowly opened her eyes, looking up to see her boyfriend. She smiled weakly behind her oxygen mask.
"God, I can't believe you're alive." He breathed and gently kissed her forehead.
"Quinn?" An older male's voice called for her and Elijah turned around. He saw who probably was Quinn's father, Detective Wayne Bailey.
Elijah had respectfully stepped out of the way, so the father and daughter could reunite and have a sweet moment to themselves. He was about to walk away until Quinn's father stopped him.
"You're Elijah Kincaid?" He turned around to Wayne. "The boyfriend who my daughter couldn't stop talking about?"
"Uh...guilty." Elijah answered, uncomfortably rubbing the back of his neck. It was his first time ever meeting her father. Whenever he met a girlfriend's parents, it was always awkward and uncomfortable for him.
"Nice to meet you, kid," Wayne held his hand out for him to shake and they did. "Even under these unfortunate circumstances. Did you get hurt?"
You couldn't see the bandages around his stomach because his shirt covered it. There was one at his arm too, but it helped that the jacket hides it.
"Yeah, I got stabbed a few times, but they stitched me up pretty good." Elijah answered.
"That's good to hear," He approved. "I heard you lost some friends. I'm sorry about that."
"I'm very sorry for what happened to your daughter," Elijah felt like he had to apologize to Quinn's father. "I really did try to help but-"
"It's okay. As long as my Quinn is alive, then that's all that matters. I've done some research on these goons, so I know how they are."
Elijah nodded in understanding.
"Do you know where Samantha Carpenter is?" Wayne asked. "I like to have a word with her."
