Wooyoung, as soon as Seonghwa was back into the house, held out his hand to San, who ran up to him.
Wooyoung tried to drag him away from the dwelling, but found himself being dragged instead. San, for a new vampire, was really fast; he would have probably became faster than Hongjoong one day. What's more, Wooyoung still hadn't fed that day; he felt more exhausted than ever. He was physically and emotionally strained.
The fact that San was feeding on him, his own hunger, the battle, finding out that he had taken the biggest blunder of his life, the fact that he had let San, Hongjoong, Yeosang down — it would have been too much for anyone.
When he had woken up just now, he had been shocked. First of all, he could not understand how San had managed to slip out of his arms and then out of the house without him noticing. For a creature who did not need sleep, he had really collapsed. But most of all, the fear of really losing him, for the second time, this time for good, had left him exhausted.
He had quickly realized what he had gone to do. San was exactly the kind of person who decides to sacrifice himself for the greater good. That's why Wooyoung loved him. That's why, now, he was hating him.
As soon as they stopped, he railed at him. "What did you think you were doing?! Can you tell me? You were going to allow Seonghwa to kill you, asking him to spare us, weren't you? How could you even think to do that?!»
"Wooyoung, all of this happened because of me. To avenge me. How could I let anything happen to you? You gave me this second chance at life, but we both know that I don't have it in me. I will never be able to fit in completely. I thought, 'better me than all of us.'"
Wooyoung had to count to ten before answering. "...Better you than all of us? I would rather die a thousand times and I'd literally kill anyone as long as I don't have to see you die! How could you do this to me?"
San took a moment to answer. "...However, it didn't happen. Seonghwa understood. I think it will take a while for others to forgive us too, but the important thing is that they understood my sincerity. Everything went well."
"But you couldn't have known that before. Everything could have gone wrong, too. Didn't you think about that?"
"I'm sorry, Wooyoung. I wanted to help you."
"Don't do that again."
With that said, he threw his arms around his neck, finally bursting into tears. San was stunned, it took him a moment for him to hold him, stroking his back reassuringly.
"Oh, Wooyoung. Breathe. I'm right here. I'm so sorry."
Wooyoung hid his face in San's neck, laying a kiss on the soft skin. As had happened to him before, his instinct told him to sink his canines into it. He recoiled, pulling away from San slightly.
"Let's go home," San said.
"Yes."
After a moment, Wooyoung stopped abruptly again. "San. About what you and Seonghwa said to each other — you're not really going back to him tomorrow, I hope."
"Of course I will. You don't have to worry, though. I'm sure he won't hurt me."
"Then what the hell does he want?!"
"I don't know what he wants — I guess I'll find out there and then. But I can assure you that he won't do anything to me. He would have had every opportunity to kill me today if he had wanted to. Besides...I trust him. I can't explain it, but my gut tells me that he will be someone important to me. Is that strange?"
"What is that supposed to mean? I don't want you to go."
"Are you perhaps jealous?" said San with a smirk.
