That evening, as soon as the sun set down, San found himself leading the other three vampires in search of the house in the forest of Seonghwa's clan.
He had been really convinced that he wanted revenge until just before, but now he found himself hoping that he would not be able to find the location of the house.
He had a terrible feeling in the pit of his stomach that told him they were making a big mistake. Perhaps his peaceful nature was regaining the upper hand over his desire for revenge, and surely the fact that he couldn't remember anything about his death did not help him to want to slaughter those who had hurt him. Moreover, he was genuinely afraid that the confrontation might turn out to be tougher than expected and that something bad would happen to one of his group. Lastly and most importantly, that microscopic possibility that Seonghwa and the others were not the ones who had killed him haunted him, but Wooyoung had assured him repeatedly that he was sure of it.
Although Wooyoung had not seen them with his own eyes, he had explained to him that vampires were very territorial and it was rare for two clans to coexist peacefully. Just the fact that they had decided to move to an already claimed territory did not work in their favor. What's more, they had followed them for a long time and made it clear that they did not have a good opinion about their choice to feed without killing. The fact that Wooyoung was so attached to a human, whom most vampires considered an inferior being, had not been well regarded even by Hongjoong and Yeosang, let alone those strangers vampires. They had already knew that San would become a target. That his death occurred right in the very days when Wooyoung was protecting him from them, while Wooyoung was being held back by Seonghwa who had made him lose those crucial minutes, did not leave too much doubt as to who the culprits were. Wooyoung did not believe in coincidences, and his explanation had seemed perfectly logical to everyone.
However, even though San was convinced he was right, he still felt uneasy. Unfortunately for him, his overdeveloped body found the exact location on its own, his legs leading him right in front of Seonghwa's house although he could not remember where it was.
Hearing the group approaching, Seonghwa, followed by Yunho, Mingi and Jongho came out of the house, visibly puzzled.
"...San? Did you convince your clan to come and get acquainted?" asked Seonghwa.
"Don't talk to him," Wooyoung hissed immediately. "If you thought you tricked us, you were very wrong. Don't think we don't know that it was you who did this to him. Today you will bitterly regret provoking us."
Seonghwa raised an eyebrow. "Wooyoung, I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Don't call me by my first name, we're strangers. And I think you know very well what I'm referring to, actually. You attacked San on his last day as a human, don't try to deny it. Which one of you three was the one who split his head in two?" he asked addressing Yunho, Mingi and Jongho.
"...I think there is a big misunderstanding."
"No misunderstandings," intervened Hongjoong. "Did you think it was easy to invade our territory? You made a miscalculation."
San could have sworn he felt his own heart hammering in his chest. Seonghwa and the others seemed genuinely shocked, could it be that they were such good actors? He had no more time to think that Wooyoung and Hongjoong dashed forward, with Yeosang in tow a split second later. San could do nothing but follow them.
He saw Wooyoung grab Mingi and slam him violently to the ground. What was he doing? Wasn't he supposed to be taking care of Jongho? An instant before Yunho was on Wooyoung, San put himself between them, kicking him in the face, getting him away from the pair.
