Lost to Darkness (Kirito X Reader)

1. Sword Art Online

I jumped for joy when I found out my mom had bought me the new VRMMORPG game, Sword Art Online.

"Mom! Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyoutha-"

"Okay, kiddo! I know you're happy! Go ahead and play, you're almost 14!"

"Thanks again! I love you, Mom!" I exclaimed, wrapping my arms around her.

"I love you too, (y/n)."

I ran to my room, clutching my game tightly. I put it in my NerveGear and placed it on my head right as one rolled around.

"Link... START!"

There was a flash of colors as I registered for the game.

When I opened my eyes, I wasn't home. I was in a town, with a bunch if people spawning around me.

I looked at my avatar. I had (f/c) hair and a matching battle outfit.
I don't know what color my eyes were.

"YES! Let's get started!" I exclaimed enthusiastically, running off to the fields.

"Hiyaah!" I swung my sword, attacking a boar.

It took about five minutes just to get its HP bar in the red.

I sighed and finished it off.

"This game is hard..." I muttered under my breath as I put my sword back in its sheath.

Then I saw two boys using Sword Skills. I narrowed my eyes and had my sword back out.

I should try that... I thought as I held it over my left shoulder, even though I was right handed.

There was a (f/c) glow that the sword emitted, then I attacked another boar, killing it in one clean shot.

"Yes! I did it!"

I ran around, killing boars all day and gaining a bunch of experience.

I think I was currently the highest level in the game. I don't know.

"Hey, you're pretty good," those two guys walked over to me, and the one with red hair spoke first, "And cut-"

"Shut up, Klein." the other smacked him in the back of the head.

I giggled.

"I'm (g/n)."

"That guy's Klein and I'm-"

There was a blue flash and the ringing of a bell.

Suddenly we were all back in the main plaza of the Town of Beginnings.

"What?" I asked out loud, running off.

"(G/n), wait!" the boy with balck hair called out to me.

Red goop dripped from the ceiling.

Eww...

~Time skip~

Oh... My... God...

The game... It's real...

If I die... I die in real life!

But can I really believe this load of garbage?!

... Yeah.

I don't know why, I just do.

"Check your inventories for an item. I'll take my leave now." the GM, Akihiko Kayaba, disappeared without a trace.

I waved my hand down, opening the menu. I manipulated it, revealing my inventory.

A... Hand mirror?

I grasped the handle as it appeared in the air in front of me.

I looked at my reflection, seeing my usual (e/c) eyes.

Then there was a blue glow.

I yelped, as I was the first one to be enveloped in it.

When it faded, I shook my head.

What was that about?

I was about to put the mirror away when I caught a glimpse at myself, making me gasp.

I had (h/l) (h/c) hair, the same (e/c) eyes, and I was much shorter than before.

I looked like me! The me in real life!

Oh no. My mom could take off my headgear and I could die. Then what?

I dropped the mirror, making it shatter into polygons of light.

What did I do?

I ran. As fast as I could.

I'm going to die. So I might as well fight as hard as I can!

Those were my thoughts as I ran, fighting everything in sight.

Wait. No. I'm going to survive and get back to my family. That's my one and only goal.

I narrowed my eyes, determined.

I know most of this chapter sounds like the first episode of SAO, but I promise the next chapter won't be like this! I swear!
