Both are seeking a fabled treasure (The One Piece and "The Greatest Treasure in the Universe" respectively)

Both fight an assortment of rivals, ranging from other pirates or a large military organization that put a bounty on their heads (The World Government and the Space Empire Zangyack respectively)
Both are also known to have terrible adaptations when brought into the West (The 4Kids dub of One Piece and Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger being adapted into Power Rangers Super MegaForce)
