It had been days since i got the call. My aunt, she had fallen ill. The medics could not figure out what happened and only came with the message that she should get her affairs in order.I have been crying relentlessly during the past days. I have barely eaten and I've locked myself in a lot over the time.
"Devi, please come out", from the other side Helia knocked on my door. I felt like throwing up, but still went over to the door unlocking it.
"Hey.." my usually cheerful mood was drowned out. He took one look at me and I thought he would go away, but I was proved wrong as he almost tackled me in a hug.
"Oh, Devi why do you keep yourself away from me", Helia whispered into my hair. I couldn't bring myself to answer and just hugged him tighter.
Slowly Helia pulled away still holding his hands on my shoulders. I couldn't bring myself to look at him, but I felt calm or maybe even a little happy.
No no no, I thought to myself. I can't feel like this, the guilt of not feeling sorrow over my aunt biting into me. Hastily I looked up at the boy standing in front of me.
Helia was quick to wipe my tears with his thumb before taking my hands in his own.
"Dance with me"
His words rung clearly in my head circling for a moment. Reality dawned upon me and I fried to excuse myself.
Before I could utter a single word he closed the door behind him and dragging me to the middle of my room.
Without my notice he had connected his phone to my speakers and found a slow song to play.
We were only swaying to the music, but it was the most I'd felt at ease since the news broke. A smile broke out replacing my frown as I was pulling Helia closer.
Before both of us knew it we had gotten into the rhythm and he was twirling me around the room and lifting me in the air. I had never felt more like a feather swaying in the wind.
My thoughts were interrupted by someone clearing their voice. It was my aunt.
She smiled at both of us lovingly while deep down I could see the facade she was trying to maintain.
"Sorry for interrupting, but may I please have a few words with my niece?" She looked at the two of us knowingly.
I pulled Helia down to my height and whispered in his ear. "Wait here and I'll be back in a moment alright?" I quickly kissed his cheek before hurrying towards aunt Alita.
