Have you ever settled yourself down and have a little conversation?
I have been doing that mostly. I have been asking myself, *what good have I done?*
Turns out there are alot to understand about yourself when you decide to settle down and speak to yourself. As for me, I haven't done any good. I have been a man who follows after money. I prioritised money over everything.
Looking at the results of my daughter in my hands, it told me how a greedy dad I have become. I have allowed my work to consume me to even not understand how my daughter feels.
After the lecturing by Vanessa, I felt humiliated and at the same time, I deserved it. She made it clear that, even though she wants to start a war between us, she is not going to do it at the expense of my daughter. Her eyes, were dark with anger and I could feel the pain when she was releasing every word.
She didn't want to lecture me about how to behave, she came to lecture me how to handle my daughter. It caught me by surprise but it was something I needed. She is still the calm young lady that I met, *that I fell in love with.*
She is a blessing, she is a gem.
My secretary knocked at the door and I quickly folded everything and placed them inside the drawer, "come in."
She held the tray of coffee with some snacks, her glasses lowered to her nose and her smile always friendly as she calculated her steps carefully.
Then I remembered what Vee what did told me about taking any food. *You can't be doing that!* She warned and threw me a note of my diagnosis.
I didn't want to make my secretary suspicious but I don't want to take anything that is not from my knowledge.
"Sir, your four pm coffee?" She asked.
Smile plastered on her face. Her small skirt always tempting but my head was wrapped up. I nod and had everything ready. When she was done pouring a cup for me, she left and told me to enjoy.
*Make them believe you are taking it.*
I looked at the coffee and I was tempted to swallow all of it but I couldn't bring myself to drink it if I don't know which one is going to be my cancer? Which one is going to be killing me slowly.
I quickly removed the report Vanessa gave me and went over it again. I smelled it, a happy humble mother, a lady who despite all this still had my daughter treated with some dignity.
I picked my car keys and went to pick my daughter. The little time I have remaining in this world, I would want to spend it with my daughter. I don't want to die, knowing that she was not well taken care off.
I didn't want to alert any of my guards, I wanted to make this a secret. Winking at my secretary, I quickly walked out through the back door.
Maybe seeing her and spending some little time with her is the only good that i will be doing in this world. They said money can't buy happiness, trust me, I thought it was just a joke. I thought getting Vanessa to be our surrogate was money buying happiness. That happiness didn't last. It was the happiest moments in my life.
