"Thank you."
Leaving the crematorium, I grabbed the gold urn, it held the ashes of my dad. This is the only way I can stay with him for a few days. Funny how after your death, your ashes are the only thing that can comfort your loved ones.
Having sent Zuriel home early, he was tired, I also wanted to go and get some sleep because I felt tired from the jetlag. Stepping on the last stairs case, a slap was etched across my face making me lose my balance but luckily I neither fell nor broke the urchin. It was tightly on my hands.
I quickly regained my balance and looked up. Seems today is not my lucky day. First I met Alexander and now here is another slap that is plastered on my cheek. I wonder what next, a fight?
I look up and the person I didn't expect is standing in front of me;
Kendra!
Hands on her hips, she is heaving very wildly and her face is all red. Jeez, why is she scary right now? I want to assume the tingling feeling on my cheeks but trust me that slap was painful and I have to rub it gently to soothe my cheeks.
"Well, hello to you too," I say casually trying to avoid her drama.
Instead of replying like a normal person, she lifts her finger and points it at me. All I could see was the old Kendra; the person you couldn't reason with, the person you couldn't win a conversation with because she felt she knew everything and was better than you. I zipped my lips and waited for her to say what she felt was right. Maybe she has changed and am just quick to judge.
"You can't stay away, you can't just leave me alone? After escaping prison, you are here now trying to act like the good daughter to make us look like bad guys?" She shouted.
I saw Zach running from the car that was parked by but I shook my head. He doesn't need to be in the middle of this. I turned my gaze at Kendra, smiling.
"I am the good daughter, what have you done ever since my dad was placed in a mental hospital or maybe when he passed away? Did you even bother to visit him?" I asked.
I was trying to be calm but she was making me mad, all the anger that was a bay came flooding, and a lump formed in my throat.
She moved forward and stared at me from head to toe, she pushed the hat that was on my head and it fell on the floor, stomping on it, she towered over me with her height. If it was the old version of me, I would have begged for her forgiveness, I would have cried and told her that I was sorry and she was correct but no, I don't fear her. She is a normal human being, a normal lady like me and you.
"Yes, I visited him, I took him his best cigarettes, I bathed him, I fed him and even clothed him because you ran away and left him there! "
I looked back at her, shock on my face. I never saw any video of her. Were there any videos about her that were deleted? How did I miss that?
"Good to hear Kendra, that doesn't give you any right to jump at me and growl like bitch, get out of my way," I was now angry and I was showing it. Who knows what she did to him when she visited?
Did she eat in front of him and deny him food the same way she would tease me with chicken wings and later eat it all?
"No, am not bitchy, you are! Why didn't you just stay where you were? You can't stop even for a second and let people you caused misery to live a quiet life? What do you think Mrs. White is going to think of? What about Sofie, do you think she will forgive you after you almost killed her mother and escaped? Wait till they find out you are here!"
