Kokushibo had stayed back in the Infinity Castle after the meeting, having decided to talk to Nakime, the biwa demon that controlled the Fortress.

He walked up to her, noticing how she stiffened under his gaze.

"You're... Nakime, correct?" he asked curiously.

She nodded, her grip on her instrument tightening ever so slightly. What did he need? "May I... help you?" she asked, her voice containing a light quiver to it.

He gave her a half shrug—a gesture lacking formalities and one so unlike him that Nakime almost relaxed.

"How does your Blood Demon Art work?" he asked. He wasn't particularily curious in her Blood Art; he wanted to get to know her more.

She looked confused for a beat and he couldn't blame her. "My biwa controls what parts of it move or teleporting people into it."

Kokushibo nodded. "Mine is most simply Moon Breathing, drawn together with demonic powers, I suppose you might say," he said, smiling slightly.

"Ah."

There was an awkward silence as they stared at each other for a beat before Kokushibo said, "Why do you wear your hair like so?"

Nakime paused. "To... cover my eye," she murmured. "I suppose."

"You suppose?"

She nodded gently.

"Why must you cover your eye?"

"I have only one."

Kokushibo's tone lilted in amusement as he said, "I have six."

She gave him a ghost of a smile. "I can tell."

"Nevertheless, there is no need to cover your eye," Kokushibo said, leaning against the platform she sat on.

She looked away, her hair slipping off her shoulders. "It's not a sight people particularily want to see," she mumbled. She flinched. Why was she bearing out her feelings to an Uppermoon, again?

"Hm, and you'd think demons wouldn't judge after most of them not being physically appealing," Kokushibo teased, his tone light and contrasting to his usual one.

Nakime found he was being sincere and couldn't think of why he might want her trust, so she nodded.

"Nevertheless," Kokushibo continued. "I suppose it is still hard to not judge yourself."

"Do you?" Nakime found herself asking. She wished she could take back her words but it was too late. She sighed internally at herself, wondering what was wrong with her today.

He hesitated. "Yes. Occasionally."

He did? Nakime peered at him carefully through her hair, wondering what about him could be judged. He was Uppermoon one! He was everything anyone wanted to be, so what was it?

She hadn't realized she'd said that out loud until she felt her mouth closing. ...Shit.

Kokushibo gave her an inquiring look. "You know, I do not know. It's not necessarily my appearence or my abilities or anything of the sort. I find myself wishing I was someone else, wondering why I am who I am. It's not often that happens; I rarely let myself trail down that mental path, but it does get me wondering from time to time."

That was... understandable. Nakime nodded. She didn't know if she should speak again, was still quite unsure how to address an Uppermoon who had come right up to her and spoken. No one had done that before, not really.

The silence grew, although it became a little more comfortable. Less... conflicting.

"As you said, though, I see you as having nothing to worry about. Nothing to judge yourself about."

Nakime blinked. "Why?"

"Hm, well, you have a lot in favor of you. You speak and look lovely, your Demon Art is exceptional and you simply... come off as someone calm and comfortable to talk to," Kokushibo said, listing them out on his fingers.

Was he... calling her pretty? She flushed lightly, and adjusted her hair in a forced casual motion, hiding her face more. "I... appreciate that. Thank you," she mumbled.

He nodded back, seemingly unfazed although his eyes were darting around now, landing on everything but her. He seemed a bit fidgety, even. A bit.

"Well, do not be ashamed of yourself," he said, after another beat of silence.

"You either," Nakime said.

He gave her a light nod and a gentle smile. "Will you take me to my house?" he asked.

She nodded quickly and brought her hand up to strum her biwa.

"By the way, I think your eye is beautiful," he said, disappearing at the sound of the string being plucked.

"What?" she said, taken aback. Her eye widened as she took in what she said and she blushed heavily, her pale face lighting up with color. "Yours too," she mumbled, though she knew he wouldn't hear.
