Chapter Four: MASON
I woke up to my alarm clock.
"Uhhhg." I groaned, hitting my alarm clock until it shut off. I closed my eyes. I hate school. The only thing I like is goofing off with my friends.
After five minutes laying in bed, I decided it was time to get up. I practically rolled out of bed. I grabbed my jeans and threw them on. I grabbed a random green polo shirt off the ground, sniffed it, then decided it was ok to wear.
I went to the bathroom and combed my hair. Everyone says I'm really hot. I have bright green eyes, silky black hair, and I work out so I'm tall and muscular.
I went downstairs to have some breakfast. I popped some pop-tarts in the toaster and waited.
When the finally popped up, I quickly scarfed them down. I was hardly even full. I missed my mom. She used to always make me breakfast in the mornimg. When my dad left us, she threw herself into her job. She leaves early in the morning, and returns late at night. Sometimes she even spends the night at work.
I walked back upstairs into my bedroom to grab my backpack.
"Hmm, that's weird." I thought out loud. It looked like there were two girls sleeping in my backyard.
"Maybe I should go check it out." I mumbled. I checked my watch. 7:02 a.m. "Why would they be out there this early? In fact, why are they even HERE?"
I quickly jogged down the stairs and into my backyard. I slowly walked up to the girls. One girl appeared to be around 13, and the other one seemed about 16. They were both filthy. The one that seemed 13 had hair that looked like a mix of chocolate and strawberries. When a ray of sun shined on her hair, it looked particularily reddish. The older girl had stick-straight dark brown hair. She was beautiful.
"I wonder what color her eyes are." I thought aloud. The older girl's eyes snapped open. Her eyes were a vibrant shade of green. Very similar to mine.
The girl looked very shocked to see me. She tried to quickly sit up but winced in pain.
"Is something the matter?" I asked worridly. She shook her head. "Are you sure?" I questioned. Just then I noticed her leg. It was black and burned. It looked extremely painful.
"Oh my gosh! You're leg!" I shouted as I quickly stood up and pointed to her leg.
"I know." She muttered quietly.
"Do you need help?" I asked worriedly.
"No. We were just about to leave." She turned to her sleeping sister. "Stell-ina, wake up, we need to leave." Her sister had eyes the color of the sky on a beautiful summer day.
"No," I said as I grabbed the eldest sister's arm. "You can stay here. It's alright with me."
"What about you parents?" She questioned, looking down at my hand that was grabbing my arm.
I quickly let go of her arm. "My mom is almost always gone, she won't mind. By the way, what are your names?"
"This is my sister Stellina, and my name is Anna." Anna gave her sister a look I didn't understand.
"Ok, nice to meet you. My name is Mason." I held out my hand for them to shake it. They just ignored it.
"Nice to meet you Mason." Anna said being polite.
"Alright, so do you guys want to come in?"
"Well, um... Ok." Anna said making a gesture to stand up, but fell down and winced.
"Here, I'll carry you. Don't worry. I'm strong." And I carefully wrapped my arms around her and picked her up like a sack of potatoes.
