Alyssa sighed beside me, staring out through the glass of the door at Thomas who continued to beg the security guard.
Though my arm hurt, my chest ached more. My heart pounded against my ears, it was all I could hear. I don't think I could ever get rid of the horrid image of the love of my life kissing another woman's lips. The passion between them... The lust.
I tightened my fist and ignored the aching of my heart. I had to make a decision, and I had to make it now.
We are over.
"Tell him to leave," I ordered through gritted teeth. Alyssa spun to look at me with eyes full of shock and fear, it seemed.
"....what?" She asked, her own eyes watering. "Y/n you can't be serious he made a mistake!"
"Yes, a very big one now tell him to leave immediately! I never want to see him again now tell him before I kick you out too!"
She steps back and wipes the bottom of her eyelids, getting rid of some tears.
"Are you sure about this... This is the man you love, y/n. You won't ever find som-"
"Use to," I cut her off sternly. "Use to love. Now get rid of him."
She nods sadly and sniffles, heading out the door and catching Thomas' attention. Inside her hand she held my engagement ring that was on the nightstand.
I couldn't hear what they were doing, only saw their lips moving and their expressions.
Alyssa unclenched her fist to show the sparkling diamond that he had given me to show his love. He stared at the ring and covered his mouth with his hands, tears drowning his eyes as he shook his head violently in denial.
Alyssa tried not to cry though she was on the verge of doing so. I could hear her next words coming from her lips, "I'm sorry."
Thomas' head dropped and he held it in his arms, his shoulders shaking as he cried. My heart shattered further and the excruciating pain in my chest increased. I looked away. I couldn't watch this. I've never seen him cry so hard. I squeezed my eyes shut in attempt to block out the world around me, but a door opened. I open my eyes and watched as Alyssa stepped in with wet cheeks. Thomas was no longer behind the door arguing with the guard.
"Um..." She stuttered, avoiding eye contact with me. "He left... but he wanted you to keep the ring." She placed the ring on my lap and I looked at her. I opened my mouth to speak but she didn't allow me.
"I'm going to leave, I need some rest." I knew she was upset with me for doing this to Thomas. My lips curved down into a frown and the corners of my eyes formed tears. "Alyssa, I -"
"Goodnight, y/n. I hope you feel better."
And she left through the door, leaving me to drown in the deathly silence of my hospital room. My mouth was still open, the words I wanted to say hanging from my lips and crawling back into my heart, forever locked away and never to be spoken or felt. I glanced down at the ring that rested on my right thigh and the tears broke out of my system. I screamed, clutching my head as I sobbed into the empty air. Nurses came rushing in, but they couldn't fix this kind of pain.
What did I do....?
