It's three am and the Monastery is on fire... again.
But hey, for once it's actually not Kai's fault. Technically Jay was the one who forgot to check and make sure that the stove was off before everyone went to bed.
So now Lloyd, Kai, Jay, and Cole are all standing out in the snow in just their pj's - or in Kai's case, just his pj bottoms, as he prefers to sleep without a shirt -. While Nya and Zane put out the fire.
Usually Lloyd loves this, as he has a lovely view of his boyfriend's nicely toned body. But tonight Lloyd is more worried about him freezing than admiring his physique. Kai had detected the fire before anyone else - thanks to his elemental powers -. And one of the first things he had done was run into Lloyd's room and scoop the still sleeping green ninja right out of his bed, blankets and all, and get him outside while yelling that the Monastery was on fire. And completely forgetting to grab any sort of upperbody wear in the process.
Now the shirtless, overprotective hothead stands behind his smaller partner, arms resting around his neck with hands clasped together in front of Lloyd's chest. Occasionally Lloyd can feel him slightly shiver as cold winds blow across his exposed back.
"Are you cold?" Lloyd asks, eyes trained on the flickering flames still coming from the Monastery.
"No." Was the quick, almost automatic reply from behind him.
"Yeah right, and the Monastery isn't burning down right now." Lloyd sarcastically snips back. Turning to face Kai he looks up slightly, trying to catch his boyfriend's eye. "Kai, look at me."
Kai glances down for a quick second before going back to watching the fire.
"Kai! Look at me!" Lloyd whines, he moves to grab Kai's shoulders and yank him down to his eye level. But Kai catches his hands before he can do so and holds them in place, much to an annoyed Lloyd's dismay.
Silently fuming, Lloyd glares daggers at his boyfriend until he finally looks down at him.
"Yes?" Kai asks, cocking an eyebrow at his young lover who opens his mouth to say something, but Kai leans down and prevents this with a light kiss, releasing Lloyd's hands to instead cup his face as they kiss.
"I know you're cold, I can feel you shivering." Lloyd mumbles as they pull away.
"We can share the millions of blankets that you pulled off my bed when you grabbed me." He offers, gesturing to the cocoon of blankets that were wrapped around him.
But Kai is shaking his head, saying, "No, you get cold way easier than I do. You need those."
"Yeah, but I also need you! And I really don't want you to freeze." Lloyd protests.
"Plus, if we share, your body heat will help keep me warm." He points out.
Kai thinks about this for a moment. He's about to give another reason why Lloyd needs the blankets more, when a particularly strong gust of wind tosses snow into his back, causing him to shiver again.
"Ok, you win. We'll share. But only because it'll keep you warmer. I'm not cold." Kai claims as Lloyd unwraps the blankets and rewraps them around the two of them.
A victorious smile dances across his face as he says, "Sure Kai, whatever you say."
Now that they're both snuggled under the blankets, Kai can't help but admit to himself that he does feel warmer than before. They turn their attention back to the Monastery where Nya and Zane have almost put out all of the flames.
"What do you think Sensei is gonna do to Jay when he comes back to find the Monastery destroyed again?" Lloyd wonders aloud.
Chuckling Kai replies, "I honestly don't want to find out. But if what happened last time has any influence, I have a feeling we're suddenly going to get a huge decrease in chores."
"Yay! More time with you!" Lloyd exclaims, Kai laughs and the two of them settle down to wait for the others to be done. Snuggling in the blankets that surround them and watching the flames dance in the night air.
