25 Days of Holiday Fluff: 2023

WTF are you wearing????

A Christmas party. Not exactly where Lloyd wants to be going, but he has been more or less peer pressured into coming. So now he's waiting for Kai to get back from the city. Kai said that he had something that he needed to get for the party, but that was over an hour ago, and the party is in a half hour.

"Ugg, where is he!?" Lloyd stops pacing for a second to look at the clock. 6:27. "What the heck did he even need?!"

The other ninja have already left, heading over to Dereth's bar - Laughys - where the party is being held. And at this rate the two of them are going to be the last to arrive.

Suddenly Lloyd hears a loud roar and feet hitting wood planks, tell-tale sounds of someone landing on the deck of the Bounty.

"Finally." Lloyd mutters, heading outside to give his boyfriend a lecture for taking too long.

But what he sees when he walks onto the deck makes him freeze, and his jaw drops open in shock. There, standing in front of him, is a very proud Kai dressed up in a Santa suit, just without a fake beard.

For a long while all Lloyd can do is stare, stare and blink. While Kai stands there with a cocky grin, looking way too happy about Lloyd's reaction.

"FSM, Kai! What is that!?" Lloyd exclaims, finally finding his voice.

"Ah, so the mute speaks!" Kai says back, "It's my outfit for the party dummy."

"You're going in that!?!" Lloyd shouts, pointing at Kai's clothes.

"Yep, and guess what! I got you something too!" Kai declares, reaching into the shopping bag that's next to him.

"No, no, no, no, no!" Lloyd says, slowly starting to back up, "I am not wearing a Santa costume!"

"Who said it's Santa?" Kai asks, standing up with something green in his hands. He unfolds it, revealing that it's a green elf costume that looks to be about Lloyd's size.

Lloyd's eyes go wide and he backs up even more, "Nope, not a chance! You will never see me in that thing!"

Kai has a mischievous look in his eyes as he says, "Oh yes I will!"

That's Lloyd's cue to run as Kai charges towards him, costume in hand. They run all around the Bounty, inside and outside. Until finally, Lloyd makes a big mistake and runs into their bedroom, completely forgetting that he would be trapped.

The second he runs through the door the realization that he's trapped hits him. The sound of the door shutting behind him makes him whirl around. Kai is standing in front of it, still holding onto the elf costume.

"Uh, Kai. We can talk about this, right?" Lloyd pleads as Kai approaches him. He backs up until his back hits the wall. He looks up into Kai's eyes, hands slightly shaking as his boyfriend leans down and says, "Gocha." in a low, playful tone.

Five minutes later Lloyd is all dressed up in his elf suit, grumbling as Kai adjusts the hat on his head.

"Alright Greenie, let's get going." Kai says, walking over to the door. He pauses and turns around when he realizes that Lloyd isn't following him. Lloyd is sitting on the bed, back towards Kai and arms crossed over his chest. With a sigh, Kai goes back over to Lloyd and sits next to him, saying, "Ok fine, I get it, you don't like the outfit."

"Considering you literally forced me to wear it, it shouldn't be all that surprising." Lloyd snaps back.

"What if you just wear the hat? And I'll just wear my hat." Kai suggets, leaning forwards to catch a glimps of his boyfriend's facial expression.

"Fine," Lloyd finally says, turning to face Kai, "but this time, I'm changing myself."

"Fair enough." Kai says, putting his hands up in a surrendering position. "But I only had to because you refused to put it on yourself."

Another ten minutes pass before the two finally leave the Bounty and head to the party.

"Man, we're going to be so late." Lloyd complains as they fly.

"Eh, we won't be that late." Kai says.

"I'm sure nothing that exciting is gonna happen in like, the five minutes we miss."

"Yeah. But still..." Lloyd starts.

But Kai, having enough of the complaining, says, "Race you there slowpoke!" and speeds off towards the city. Causing Lloyd to shout, "Hey!" and rush after him.

The two fly through the streets of Ninjgo city, laughing and trying to be the first to get to the bar. Eventually when they do arrive, their race ends up in a tie. Once they dismiss their dragons, they turn to the doors of Laughys, where they can already hear the holiday music playing. And hand in hand, they walk through the doors, ready to join the party.
