Y/n pov:
"I can't believe it's already almost parents weekend," Enid said while painting her nails. Me and Ella were sitting on Enid's bed while Wednesday typed away. I had brought over my spell book and was working on one that could speed up plant growth.
"Don't remind me," I grumbled to her. Memories of last year's parent weekend fogging my vision. I shook it off and flipped through my book.
"Have you ever thought about using your other magic again?" She questioned and I looked over to her, snapping my book shut.
"I've already told you, after what happened last year. I don't think I want to go down that path again. Besides, I've decided I want to stick with my plants and potion making. I wouldn't even need to think about that magic again."
She rolled her head towards me and gave me a look, "come on, it was one mistake, before it happened it was the happiest I've seen you." She pouted at me.
"What are you two talking about?" Wednesday chimed in, placing a finished page down on the pile next to her.
Enid and I looked over to her, "y/n here isn't just a plain everyday witch-"
"Hey!"
"-what I'm saying is she can make anything she wants!" Wednesday rose a brow in confusion.
I exhaled, "I'm able to manipulate the elements however I want. But I don't have very much control over it, and one day I almost..." I looked down, remember last year.
"You don't need to tell me."
I turned my head up and smiled sadly, "no it's okay." I set my book aside and walked over and sat on Wednesdays bed.
"At the end of year party last year, I volunteered to help with some of the decorations like the glowing crystals I talked about when we were with Eugene."
Ella had crawled over and perched herself on Enid's lap, Thing sat himself on her head.
"When we were almost finished, I decided I would conjure a huge tree to place the glowing crystals on. But as I was conjuring it, it was almost like the magic had started to take me over and before I knew it, the tree had overgrown most of the grounds, Enid snapped me out of it before anything worse happened." I looked over and grinned at Enid.
"Yeah it was pretty scary actually, her eyes went all black." Enid shook her head and shivered.
"You're right, maybe you should just steer clear of it, it's just too bad because I know how much you loved it."
I nodded in agreement. Wednesday looked like she was thinking about something.
After another moment, she turned her head to me, "I think you should keep practicing it."
I quirked a brow, "Really?"
"Yes I think you should. I don't think there are very many people with your ability. Take advantage of it."
I hummed in response, looking out the window. "I don't know, a part of me really wants to use my magic again. But I'm mostly scared of what I could do."
Wednesday just slightly nodded her head before going back to writing.

Today was the last day of school before parents weekend, which meant shorter classes, and an extra long fencing practice.
All of us were separated into two lines and coach Vlad decided we would have a mock/mini tournament.
"Whoever you are across from is the person you will start with, winner plays winner. This is a foil match only, so put your sabers away if you have them out. First opponent to strike wins and we will move on to the next."
