Teodora's pov:
*It's Sunday, the day after the big day in Belgrade. I still can't believe I'm going to Norway in a month. Yes, yes, in a month, you heard me right. Choreographer Mr. Smith wrote that to us today in the folklore group. I'm too excited. I'm so excited that I can't concentrate on studying. I agreed that together with the friends we will officially start preparations for our song and choreography. Since we couldn't come up with it all ourselves, we invited Mr. Smith to help us. He told us to come to the hall today exactly at 1 pm because that's when he finishes the rehearsal with the youngest group. And so it was, we arrived at the agreed time and said goodbye to the choreographer and of course apologized for keeping him longer.*
Kate: (enthusiastically) I'm thinking we should incorporate traditional dance elements but infuse them with the energy of "Heartbeat".
Ana: (nodding) Agree. We want to showcase our heritage while capturing the essence of the song.
Andrea: (excited) How about we highlight individual talents within the group? Each of us can have a moment to shine.
Theo: (smiling) That sounds like a great idea. It adds a personal touch to our performance.
Mr.Smith: That's a good idea, but I think that folklore is a unity, and if you want it that way, maybe it could be like this... Come up with pairs, since the song is kind of a love song and slow. We can make a kind of love game.
Max: (nodding) Pairs could work well, and it would give us the opportunity to showcase different dynamics within the group.
Daniel: (smiling) We can create unique stories for each pair, weaving them together into a love narrative.
David: (enthusiastically) And imagine the lifts and synchronized moves we can incorporate into these pairs! It'll be visually stunning.
Me: (thinking) Each pair could represent a different aspect of Serbian culture, bringing diversity to our performance.
Ana: (excited) I love the idea of telling a story through our dance. It adds depth and emotion.
Andrea: (nodding) Plus, it allows us to highlight individual talents within the context of a larger narrative.
Theo: (smiling) It's like bringing our own love stories to life on stage.
Max: (thinking) And we need a dynamic opening to grab the audience's attention. Something that sets the tone for the whole performance.
Daniel: (nodding) And a powerful ending that leaves a lasting impression.
David: (enthusiastically) Count me in for some cool lifts and synchronized moves! The group engaged in a lively discussion, exchanging ideas, and building on each other's suggestions.
Mr.Smith: Let's start by breaking down the song and identifying key moments that we can emphasize in our choreography.
Me: We'll need to find a balance between traditional steps and modern movements that complement the music.
Ana: (smiling) And let's not forget the storytelling aspect. Our dance should tell a compelling story that resonates with the audience.
Author's pov:
*As the group delved into the choreography planning, the studio became a canvas for creativity. Pairs were formed, stories were crafted, and the dance began to take shape. The fusion of tradition, modernity, and personal narratives promised a performance that would not only showcase Serbian folklore but also resonate with the universal theme of love.*
Teodora's pov:
Mr.Smith: have only one question, what will your group be called?
David: Well...we didn't think about that.
Daniel: Maybe we should name ourselves after a song, or it's too stupid.
Theo: Wow bro, yeahh, Heartbeat group, hahhaa
Ana: Come on you three, you're fans, come up with a plan *she meant Andrea, Kate and me*
Kate: I really don't have any idea..
Andrea: Hmm, maybe... How about the name "FolkBeat Harmony"? It combines the essence of folklore, the rhythmic beat of music, and the harmonious unity of the group. What do you think?
*We all looked at each other and agreed.*
