Three years ago

Mingyu pushed Wonwoo inside the dark cafe while whispering "Good luck". He patted the elder on his shoulder before leaving him with a bouquet of pink peonies which were Hyoo Rim's favourite.

Wonwoo got startled as soon as the spotlight dropped on him. He tried to block the sudden light from his vision with his free hand. "I shouldn't have let Mingyu plan this," he muttered quietly before putting down his hand. He looked up as his vision adjusted with his surroundings only to meet the beautiful girl in front of him, Lee Hyoo Rim. She was looking gorgeous in that sky blue dress that flowed just over her knees.

Her light makeup made her look more beautiful. The thin eyeliner helped her big bright eyes shine under the spotlight that was landing on her. She shyly waved at him. Wonwoo smiled and waved back at her before approaching her. "Um, you said you had something to say," she shyly trailed off as the pink color dusted her cheeks.

"Yeah," Wonwoo said looking down as he touched the back of her neck in embarrassment. "It's just," his said, looking at her then at his hand, holding the bouquet of pink peonies. "I want to_," his words died down in his throat as he looked at the beautiful face in front of him. But he couldn't utter anything else as if something or someone was strangling him with something, making him feel like a fish that was out of water.

"Are you feeling good, Won?" she worriedly asked, putting her hand on his shoulder, tilting her head to take a look at the other boy's face. Wonwoo looked up to see her worried eyes, roaming around his face but all he could think was how empty everything looked around him. The face in front of him wasn't what he was seeing. It was like he was looking at the reflection of Mingyu, his best friend. He suddenly remembered the time when he picked a drunk Mingyu up, from the bar he was hanging out with his colleagues.

That night

Wonwoo stumbled a bit, carrying the big drunken puppy who was hugging the shit out of him. He sighed, somehow managing to settle Mingyu on the passenger seat. He quickly got in too, putting on his seat belt then helping Mingyu with his. He pulled away from the guy only to be startled by the other boy who was looking at him so intently somehow making him look small in front of him.

"Hyung, what are you doing here?" Mingyu asked in his husky deep voice, finally letting Wonwoo breathe properly who didn't know he was holding until now. "What do you mean by what am I doing?" Wonwoo asked instead of answering, shifting his eyes off him, looking ahead as he started the car but got stopped by the younger who held his hand in firm grip, making him unable to drive.

'A drunk Mingyu is a stubborn one' he mentally noted creasing his temple with his free hand before looking at the boy. "I had so much time on my hand that I wanted to play around. So, here I am," he huffed but that didn't make the other boy flinch a bit. "Of course I'm here to take you home, dumbass," Wonwoo said, slightly flicking his head with his finger. "Oh," was all the other boy replied, releasing his hand.

Wonwoo didn't know why he was angry. Was it because the younger wasn't present in their hangout or was it because he could have joined them after his meeting but still chose to go for drinks with his colleagues, he didn't know. All he knew was he was angry.

Wonwoo again started the car, driving towards Mingyu's apartment. The whole ride was quiet until Mingyu decided to break it. "Hyung," he called out That's the moment Wonwoo realized that the other boy had not only gotten rid of his shoes but also brought his legs up on his seat, hugging his knees while resting his face on them and looking at him for the whole time, making him abruptly hitting the break.

Wonwoo thanked his whole ancestors that there weren't any cars on the road at this time. He wanted to snap at the younger but got interrupted by the question the younger asked, "Why do you love her?" Wonwoo breathe hitched, not because of the question but because of the answer that came to his mind, "She reminds me of you". He felt scared for a moment, his palms felt sweaty and eventually he couldn't answer the younger.

"Hyoo Rim-ah, I think I messed up, big time," Wonwoo whispered making the other froze on her spot with her cold hands that clutched on the straps of a paper bag.
