Shinobu put her phone down after seeing Mitsuri's message. If she's being honest, this is one of the worst fevers she's had
She would've preferred if Mitsuri stayed and took care of her but, in her words,
"I don't want to be a burden" she said to herself
Shinobu is used to taking care of herself, and in her own words again,
"It's only a fever"
Shinobu tried to posture up, as she was laying down on her bed, but the simple act made her head throb in barely bearable pain
She powered through the pain though just so she can take her medicine for the second time today
Shinobu lied down again and closed her eyes to try and sleep. Before she could though, she heard the front door open
She sighed in frustration "She came back?" She asked rhetorically, referring to Mitsuri
She waited for Mitsuri to open her room's door, and as the door opened she started complaining
"I can handle myself, Mitsu-" Shinobu stopped talking when the person who entered her room wasn't her roommate
It was Giyu
"Giyu?!" Shinobu screamed in surprise, which she regretted as it hurt her head even more
"Sorry" Shinobu apologized for screaming "Did Mitsuri tell you to come here? Don't mind her, I can take care of myself, dont worry" She assured Giyu with a forced smile
"She didn't tell me to come here"
"Huh?" Shinobu was visibly confused "Then why are you here?" She tried to think of possible reasons but her brain didn't work properly because of her headache
"Mitsuri mentioned you were sick. I don't have anything to do today so I'll take care of you" Giyu said in a straightforward way
"Why?" Shinobu asked, very confused as to why this person she just met two weeks ago would willingly take care of her
"We are friends right?" Giyu asked as he grabbed a seat and approached the side of Shinobu's bed
"Are we?"
"I think we are" Shinobu nodded, still confused. "I wouldn't take care of a friend I met two weeks ago but maybe he's just that friendly" Shinobu reasoned out in her head, trying to overtake her other delusional thoughts
Giyu put the back of his right hand on Shinobu's forehead to get her temperature
"God, you're hot" Shinobu's heart stopped for a moment before realizing he meant her temperature
Giyu got the thermometer from the bedside table and put it at Shinobu's neck to get a better idea on her temperature
"Keep it there for a bit, I'll just get something" Shinobu nodded before Giyu left the room
He came back and Shinobu was already holding the thermometer
Giyu put what he was holding down, which was a small aluminum bowl filled with water and a small towel floating above it, and checked the thermometer
Her temperature was 39.6 Celsius. Giyu's forehead creased. Giyu put down the thermometer and got the towel
He squeezed the excess water out first before putting the towel on her forehead
"You look mad" Shinobu pointed out which surprised Giyu
"Sorry" He immediately relaxed his face "It's just that you have a high fever" Shinobu nodded
The two fell into silence. Shinobu, looking at the ceiling silently as she couldn't sleep. And Giyu, on his phone and constantly checking on Shinobu
"I'm sorry for disturbing you" Shinobu broke the silence. The remark immediately caught Giyu off guard
"Maybe you feel like you have to take care of me because I'm Mitsuri's best friend, but you really didn't have to" Giyu chuckled at the remark, which made Shinobu look at him, confused
"I'm not taking care of you because you're my friend's best friend" Giyu said, putting down his phone
"I also don't know why I'm doing this, I don't think we are close enough for me to do this, all i know is this..." Shinobu and Giyu lock eyes
"You're not disturbing me because I want to do this. I want to take care of you"
