[CHAPTER 18]
FIVE YEARS LATER!!!
Lethokuhle's pov.
I was busy around the house trying to get myself ready and also trying to monitor Sqalo, if he was eating. Sqalo is really a handful child, he had gotten naughtier as he grew up. I can never leave him alone in a room because I know he will do something naughty. Then whenever i reprimand him, it's just another story because somehow i will end being in the wrong. I also think that is another reason he doesn't like me very much, it's because i always reprimand him and everyone else just lets him get away with everything.
Sqalo: "Thotho." he called out already walking into my bedroom as I did my hair. I had my own apartment now in Midrand that was a gift from my grandparents on my 21st.
Me: "Yes?"
Sqalo: "I'm done."
Me: "For real? I hope you not lying to me because i won't get you a happy meal later on."
Sqalo: "Really mama." I went to check his bowl and it was empty, I opened the trash can and all his porridge was inside. I sigh defeated as he looked at me with his puppy eyes.
Sqalo: "I don't like that one mama, I want Khulu's porridge." I roll my eyes.
Me: "Let's go!" I say as i grab my handbag. I lock up my apartment then go to my car. The car is actually dad's old car, he gave it to me after saying i need it more since i have a child. Despite our differences he is an awesome dad, I give him that.
Sqalo: " Can i sit with you Thotho?"
Me: "sure." i open the passenger's door for him and buckle him up then go to my side. I start the car and drive off.
These past few years haven't been easy especially with how i had to juggle school and raising Sqalo but i made it. I am just so happy that this is my final year, I can't wait to graduate next year. I once had a dream of getting a job abroad right after graduating or to do my honours abroad but all that seems far fetched now since i'm a mother. I know I can still do all that but i don't want to leave my son behind or even move him to another state where there's no family around. Sqalo is really my world even though he doesn't like me much.
I decided that we have a little lunch at Wimpy before I continue with my journey. We were driving down to my grandparents house since I haven't seen them in so long.
Sqalo: "Thotho."
Me: "Yebo Sqalosami?" i take a glance at him
Sqalo: "Mkhuluza is your baba right?"
Me: "Yes?"
Sqalo: "Where is my baba then?" oh god!
Me: "I thought we talked about this before mfana wami."
Sqalo: "Yes but i still don't understand." I honestly don't know what I was expecting in a four year old.
Me: "Your father is somewhere in this world and he doesn't have time for now because he's busy and when he does have time, he will be here, okay?"
Sqalo: "Ok. Does he even love me?" he asked looking sad now.
Me: "Only he can answer that baby but you know i love you more than anything right?"
Sqalo: "really?" he asks smiling making my heart swell with love.
Me: "Of course. You my number one prince!" I kiss his face and he giggles sweetly.
"Sis Letho!" I turn and i'm met by Londi in her school uniform. I stand up and embrace her.
Me: "Hi baby girl. You look so grown!"
Londi: "I know right! We don't see you much often now even back home!"
Me: "Yeah, well i'm always busy with school and work."
Londi: "Yeah? well we miss you so much."
Me: "I do too hey! How's aunt?"
Londi: "She's good, just getting old." we laugh.
Me: "I don't believe that."
Londi: "Serious sis. who's this cutie?" he pinches Sqalo's cheeks making him frown.
Me: "My baby."
Londi: "No ways! You lie sis, you still look the same mos!" I chuckle.
Me: "I'm telling you."
Londi: "He is a charmer shame. Anyways let me leave, it was good to actually see you."
Me: "Same here. Send my regards to everyone."!She nods, we hug as she rushes off to some man who looks quite old might i add.
Sqalo: "Ubani loya Thotho?" he asks still frowning.
Me: "uLondi, your aunt."
Sqalo: "Aybo uyaphapha." I laugh because he really looks so annoyed.
