Inha herself was a complete mess the whole day when she was supposed to meet Wonwoo. When her father came up with a marriage proposal, she said yes immediately without even asking anything about the man her father brought forth for her. Not his name, his age, his occupation, his picture, nothing she asked him which surprised her father in a way that he felt sad for her. Ever since Inha's mother passed away when she was a mere child, ever since he remarried and brought home a stepmother for her, Inha never disobeyed her father. Because even when she was a child, she promised her dying mother that she would never go against her father's wishes.
Inha's father regretted his remarriage everyday. Especially because of Inha's suffering under the hands of his current wife. Sometimes he even wondered how his daughter could patiently endure the abuse meted out by the vile woman who held nothing but hate for a small child. His remarriage was not even one that was born out of love as one would suppose. An ill fated one night stand with the woman who was vying after him, a rich widower, resulted in an unwanted pregnancy, therefore forcing him to marry her to take responsibility for his actions. Inha's father blamed his masculine urges every single day for that night which changed his and Inha's life completely.
He sometimes wanted Inha to lash out against him for ruining her life, but Inha did nothing of that sort. If anything, Inha only considered herself as a burden to him and his new family. She might have cried herself to sleep every night due to the scalding pain on her skin, but never opened her mouth about the burns given by her stepmother to her father. Even though he knew about the abuse, he did not ask anything about it. Inha's father did not have the courage to face his daughter who bravely put up a front against all the odds that were stacked against her. And that made him guilty further. However he vowed to protect her with all his might, and this marriage with Wonwoo was his way of helping her escape the hell he brought upon her.
"You don't have to answer immediately, Inha-ya. Take your time to go through his bio and then give me an answer," he told her once more
"I trust your choice Appa. So you may proceed with the necessary arrangements," was all that she said with a smile. He wanted to hug her and tell her that he would protect her no matter what, and that she will always remain as his little girl, but he didn't. That would signify her that he knows all about the scars and pain she has, that she has hid from him, and that could break her already fragile heart.
"Okay, I will arrange for a meeting with the boy's family soon," he said, smiling at her. "Okay Appa. Good night, I hope you rest well tonight" she said and left.
"Inha-ssi?" someone woke her up from her daydream. She looked at the person who called out to her, her muddled thoughts betraying her for a second until she realised who it was by taking in his appearance - the jet black hair that was styled with a moderate amount of gel as some of the strands fell on his forehead, the foxy black eyes, a set of natural looking pink lips, the sharp jawline that could slice through any woman's heart, the crisp white shirt that hid his broad shoulders...
That's right, it is the handsome man who was going to be my husband
"Oh, sorry, did you ask me something?" She asked him back, willing her heart to quiet down as she realised that he was actually speaking to her.
"I was wondering if you'd like to go on a short drive. I will drop you back here when your family leaves. We can also talk here if you are uncomfortable..." She didn't allow him to finish his sentence
"Yes, I would like to go on a drive"
