“You okay sweetheart?” Wonwoo asked worriedly, kneeling in front of Inha.
“I am fine.” She said sniffling. “Let's get this over and go home. Let's talk at home” she said, promising her husband that she'd share her raging thoughts with him later.
The trial began again after the recess and it was time to hear the judge’s verdict.
“Considering the defendant's involvement in the murder of the plaintiff Kang Haram’s late wife Park Yerin, for deceiving the Plaintiff to take responsibility for someone else's daughter, for abusing the plaintiff's daughter Kang Inha and for her recent involvement in Kang Inha's accident which was a premeditated murder attempt, I hereby find the defendant guilty on all accounts and sentence the defendant with life imprisonment”
The courtroom erupted in an uproar as justice was upheld. Journalists who attended this high-profile trial were busy tapping on their laptops and photographers were jostling each other to take pictures of the Chaebol father and daughter who were now hugging and crying together while Wonwoo was beside them along with Taha. Soon pictures of this moment were widely shared and the people of South Korea were happy that justice was served.
Finally after much crying, Inha was leaving the courtroom as a lighter woman because much of her burden and woes in her heart were dissipated. She didn't even bother looking over at Sumi because she didn't matter anymore in her life. What matters now was the future that defined Inha's life which included Wonwoo, her kids and her family. The scars in her heart have healed finally.
Upon reaching home Wonwoo lifted Inha onto the bed and made her lie down. Then he lifted the covers to join her because Inha had wanted to be held. It was around evening and the children were still with Mia and Seokjin. So the house was quiet except the two souls who contently sighed upon embracing each other under the covers.
“Are you okay? You said you wanted to talk?” Wonwoo asked, pulling her closer towards him.
“Is it petty of me to not forgive Suya?” She said, murmuring from his chest. Upon hearing this Wonwoo chuckled.
“Hey!” Inha said, crossly. “You think this is funny?” She asked, looking up at his face from the embrace, pouting.
“Mian, mian” he apologized, taking the chance to peck her lips before talking. “I don't think you are being petty just because you didn't want to forgive someone baby” he said nuzzling closer.
“But she said she regrets…” she said and Wonwoo interrupted her.
“Not everyone who says they are regretting should be forgiven,” he said. “And trust me, Suya is not that person. So as far as your heart says to not forgive, then maybe it knows that she wasn't being insincere. And it is okay. Because not everyone deserves your forgiveness and love” he said.
“Makes sense.” She said and went deep in thought.
“We should get ready in an hour. Your father has invited us for dinner with Taha Hyung and Ayat. To thank him for his help in winning this case” Wonwoo informed.
“I know. I want to take a nap. I am tired.” she said and hugged him as much as she could. That moment felt complete, to lay carefree in her husband's arms. And for the next one hour, the two souls were able to sleep peacefully entwined together.
Taha offered to drive them towards Inha’s father's mansion for dinner later that evening. Wonwoo's parents, his dongsaeng as well as Mia and Seokjin were also present as they brought the twins along with them after taking care of them when Inha and Wonwoo were busy with the trial. Jeha was there too and soon happy chatter and clinking of cutlery filled the house where Inha grew up miserably.
Previously Inha hated living there. Even though it was her own house, she felt like a stranger, or like a servant even when Sumi and Suya ruled over their lives. The once dreary and dark house felt lively all of a sudden and Inha’s heart swelled with so much happiness that she shed a lone happy tear.
After dinner when she came out from the restroom after cleaning up, she gasped upon seeing a portrait that was now hanging on the hallway. She choked upon seeing the picture as she admired it as it was her first time seeing it.
“So, this is how Eomeo-nim looks huh?” Wonwoo said, hugging her from behind, placing his chin on her head. This only made her cry further.
“Yes,” she said. “I just, I just haven't seen any pictures of her in a very long time” she said sniffling.
“Well this proves how much your dad is still in love with her” he said, smiling. “She looks beautiful by the way! Also you take after her don't you? My beautiful wife takes after her beautiful mother!” He teased her to lighten the mood and she laughed.
“I guess,” she said. “I should probably thank dad for hanging this and ask for copies” she said.
“Yes, we should show Eunhan and Eunhye their grandmother when they grow up,” Wonwoo said thoughtfully.
“We should”
The duo then spent the rest of their evening with the good people around them who looked out for them and even stood up for them. But there was still something missing from their lives and so Inha leaned towards Wonwoo and said:
“I can't wait to go back to the dorm to be with the members and the girls. They probably won't fall asleep by the time we reach home right?”
Wonwoo chuckled and looked at his wife with nothing but sheer admiration. The way she said home resonated with him. His home, the one he shared with his members, was also hers and somehow Wonwoo felt happy upon hearing Inha wanting to go back and spend time in the dorm.
“The guys? sleeping early? No way. So let's go?”
That's how they found themselves surrounded by SEVENTEEN, including those who love and cherish them. Being amidst the chaos that only keeps growing when each member finds love, Inha now felt complete, loved while knowing that she's in this for life, for Wonwoo, for her kids, and for her friends!
