~Eight years later, on September 23rd, 2099.~
~Dem would wake up with Jeremy next to her. The room would be completely rearranged. Most of the inmates had left, and many new ones were admitted. But the ones Dem had trained over the years remained. The Warden was on the verge of retiring in another year or so. Emily had appeared now and then throughout the years, and Dem's brain had expected her to the point where it did not cause any harm or affect her, besides the slight glitch from when she appears and disappears.~
Dem: She'd look over at Jeremy and pull him close to her.
~Jeremy would mutter and close his eyes again.~
Dem: "I love you, Jeremy."
~The screen in the main hallway would sound faintly, "This is N64 news; I am on the ground outside of the Biotechna Park, and I want you to take a look at the crowd of protesters that have gathered here today, as tensions between Arasaka, Biotechna, and Kang-Tao soar tremendously. Some critics even say this could turn into the second corporate war; the world has not seen such a war as devastating ever since. This is Kent Robinson, live at Biotechna Park."~
Jeremy: "Love you too, babe." He'd lean over and check the time on the nightstand.
Dem: "What time is it?"
Jeremy: "10:34." He'd sit up and stretch, and the window blinds would open slightly automatically, letting sunlight in. "Hun.. every day since the start of January, I've been really..anxious. At any moment, what could happen? How does it start...?"
Dem: "Not even I can tell you how it starts."
Jeremy: "Shiit..what about your friend? Has she said anything to you since a few days ago?"
Dem: "No." Her eyesight would glitch, and Emily would sit next to the holographic screen that replaced Jeremy's monitor.
~Emily would fidget with her hands.~
Dem: "Oh, joy, she's back..."
Emily: She'd look at Dem and roll her eyes."When I was put on the front lines, I was just..in disbelief. How humans..could do this to one another. It's dumb. Sorry, I was in my thoughts. And you know I like popping into the physical world every once in a while. I'll leave you alone now." She'd fade out.
Jeremy: "I'll head downstairs and get us a drink. Well..a breakfast drink, heh..."
Dem: "Jeremy, meet me out in the courtyard. When you're done."
Jeremy: "Uh huh." He'd head out the door and go downstairs.
Emily: "Whatchu got planned for the day?"
Dem: "I'm going to train. Like every day."
Emily: "Ugh. Sounds boring like you. I'll pop into the real world if you don't mind me. I wanna check this place out while you.. 'train.'" She'd appear on the bed and jump down. "Of course, I can't go too far from you, or I'll just disappear. So I gotta stay close to ya." She'd point at Dem.
Dem: "Things can be boring while you're in prison." She'd teleport to the courtyard.
~Emily would stand alongside Dem and look around.~
~Jeremy would walk up to Dem with two cups in hand. He'd sip one and hand the other to her.~
Emily: "Yeah, this is what you would call a fitness center in the 2060s..."
