"I fear no evil, the shadow is mine and so is the valley."
Cassian's pov:
"You're late." Professor Mitchel scowled when I walked into the class.
"Apologies Sir, I was doing an essay in the library and lost track of time. I assure you, it won't happen again."
I tried to make my way to my seat but he continued talking. "That's not a good enough excuse."
"Well it's the only one I have for you today. Now, would you like to continue this pointless conversation or can I go to my seat and learn? Right now you're wasting both of our time." He looked me up and down before motioning to my seat. I nodded, making my way to my seat.
"Essay? We both know you get those done in an hour." Bianca leaned over and whispered.
I sighed. "I was at the hospital helping my mother, something I'd like to not share with the entire class." I grabbed my notebook and pen out of my backpack. "Is that okay with you Bianca?"
"I'm sorry about your mom. How is she doing?" She asked as I grabbed my highlighters.
"Fine." I was lying, my mom isn't in the hospital.
"Well if you need anything-" She touched my shoulder causing me to stiffen.
"Bianca, remove your hand." I said in a tone that could rival a growl. She removed her hand almost instantly with a soft sorry. I sighed. "No I'm sorry. I don't like to be touched. We've been classmates for years I apologize for assuming you'd know that I avoid all physical contact when possible." I apologized although I didn't mean it. I haven't been feeling like myself since earlier. Something was off and I couldn't put my finger on it.
I turned my attention to professor Mitchel. I lined my highlighters in order from most used to least used, I turned the blue one so that the brand name was showing.
Order is important to me. With out order what is there?
Nothing.
Everything has to be in order at all times and when things aren't in order...well people do crazy things.
"Serial killers are more common than you think." Professor Mitchel spoke, finally starting his lecture. I began taking notes as he talked, my head thinking about my kill earlier.
I was following this rather large guy. He looked like he was on edge, looking for someone or something. I was also looking for someone, someone to play with. He peaked my interest. I followed him into an alley.
He stopped in his tracks. "You've been following me for the past ten minutes." His voice was kind of demonic.
"You peaked my interest."
"So what do you want from me?"
"Your life. Make it entertaining?" I said, throwing a knife at him which he somehow dodged. Interesting. I walked closer to him. It's been a few days since my last kill and I was practically itching for entertainment. I want an entertaining fight but also a quick one, I have class in an hour.
"Oh you're bold aren't you?" He pulled me in by my shirt. "Look kid. I don't know what kind of weird psycho shit you're on but I'm looking for someone and I don't have time for your games." The tone of his voice surprised me. This has never happened before and to say I'm intrigued would be an understatement now.
I kicked him in his leg, causing him to fall on his knee and drop my shirt at the same time. I pulled him by his hair making him look up to me, the look of surprise yet no fear was entertaining enough to keep me interested in this particular prey.
His hand swatted mine in annoyance as if not taking me seriously. I punched him in the face hard enough to get him to fall back. He turned to me with a bloody nose with fire in his eyes like he was ready to fight but I was ready to end him.
I knelt over his body taking a hold of his hair on both sides before I started bashing his head down into the ground while counting every hit. "One...two.." With each hit more and more blood was coming out, the screams music in my ears. "Three...four...five." I expected the screams to quiet down after five but he surprised me. He had a lot of life in him, he was still giving a futile fight holding onto that last breath of life like a pathetic loser, I added another one now bored and once I reached eight he was still.
The quietness after the screams, whimpers, desperate breaths were all I looked up to. I looked at the sky, taking a breath that gave me life in my lungs. a moment like this is what I kill for. I strive for this full feeling in my chest.
I felt an eerie feeling around me just as the man I murdered stilled. I glanced all around seeing nothing, I am not one to get scared because I am afraid of nothing. Death that wouldn't scare me...I welcome it with open arms but I hate the unknown.
If someone saw me doing this that is not bad, I would hunt them down and kill them and if I couldn't then I would gladly enjoy the rest of my time in prison, can't say I won't try to murder them either cause I will. Where there is a way there is murder. No matter how safe someone thinks they are...there is always a way.
The feeling increased my skin growing goosebumps. I glanced at my hands while tracing my bloody finger on it. "Interesting." I got off of the dead man's body only for a strong wind to push past me sending me down.
I fell to my right side, bruising my palm as it secured my landing. I was getting angry. What the fuck was that? It's like the wind passed by me only once and disappeared yet the feeling stayed behind.
I tried to stand up but stopped when the wind came back. I could not see it but I could feel it, it was strong and close almost at my nose. I didn't step back, whatever it was I will gladly allow it to take me.
I knelt while surrendering towards it with arms wide open. "Take me." I didn't know what was supposed to happen next or if I was finally completely losing it, but I felt something consume my body.
I felt all the air escape my body, I could hardly breathe so I started wheezing while holding the ground. Whatever this was it was not going to kill me, suffocation is a stupid way to die and I would rather he slit my throat than accept this kind of fate.
I picked up my knife from my pocket ready to do it when I felt myself settle down. Was I imagining all of that? I glanced at the man's body. "This is your fault." I kicked him while getting up, the eerie feeling has disappeared.
No...I am not going to become like that kind of psycho. I will keep my sanity until the end. "I have class." I had to run back, can't believe I almost believed something was here.
"There could be a serial killer in this class right now." Professor Mitchel said, looking at the class with a smirk as if we were supposed to be scared. I leaned back in my seat.
I knew psychology would be an interesting class.
