"Could you find anything?" Hootwiggle asked as Rachel and Mira entered the office. She was sitting at the table with a book open in front of her. She was also trying to do some research about all of this.
"We mostly only read about what we already knew, but I think we found a few things that might help us," Mira said.
"Come, sit down. You can tell me all about what you found. I tried doing some research, but I couldn't find anything that would be able to help us." Hootwiggle closed the book and turned her chair to face Rachel and Mira.
Mira took a big breath before she started speaking. She didn't really know what to say or how to say it. There was so much information, and a big shock to hear what was happening. "This person, or whatever it is, had to know their way around Techtopia. There are only two robots with the password to the code for all of the robots, and they don't know how to code, so it couldn't have been them. They had to have hacked into that system and then knew how to code and change the code so that all of the robots in the factory produced the wrong devices. Then, they would have gotten rid of the robot that sends everything to the normal world. But this has to be someone really good at disguising themselves as the robots didn't notice them at all, or they would have changed the code so that the robots wouldn't attack him." Mira looked at Rachel and took another deep breath, "Hootwiggle, we think this is someone from the inside."
"It has to be a guardian," Rachel said.
Something outside of the window caught her eye. It looked like trees were breaking down in the forest, but she knew she didn't have good eyesight, so she just ignored it.
"But who-" Hootwiggle was interrupted by a loud tremor.
The building started to shake, and everything standing on the tables began to fall off. Rachel looked out of the window. There was a bright pink glow in the forest.
"Look!" Rachel shouted.
Mira and Hootwiggle held onto their chairs and looked at the glowing forest. The tremors just got louder, and everyone continued to shake more and more. Rachel fell down onto the floor. Hootwiggle and Mira just continued looking at the forest in shock.
"No. It can't be happening." Mira managed to get a few words out.
Rachel didn't have any idea what was going on. The glow in the forest just got bigger and brighter until they heard a loud bang. The glow disappeared completely, and the shaking stopped. It was as if nothing had happened.
"What was that? Hootwiggle? Mira?" Rachel said as she got up.
The world still looked the same, but Hootwiggle and Mira's expressions said that something big had happened.
"The portal in Enchantwood forest just closed."
Hootwiggle sat down. She held her head in both hands. Rachel gasped. This sounded really bad. She wanted to ask what she could do to help, but she knew there was nothing she could do to help. All they could do now was go to the world of technology and take down this thing causing all this trouble.
"When are we going to the world of technology to take this thing down?" Rachel wanted to know.
"Rachel, I'm sorry, but you can't come with us. You have to get home quick. We don't know when the other portals will start closing. We'll handle everything, and when everything is sorted out, Finnigan will go and get you so we can celebrate. I know you wanted to help, but we can't risk you being trapped here. Mira will take you back to the portal."
Hootwiggle wasn't herself. She wasn't as happy and cheerful as she always was. It was like a dark cloud was hanging over her and wouldn't go away soon.
Rachel didn't say much on her way back to the portal with Mira. She was devastated that she had to return home now and couldn't even say goodbye to Finnigan. She knew why she had to go back home, and she could understand why Hootwiggle was worried that she would get stuck over there, but it was still pretty dreadful. She didn't like the world of technology at all. It was so dull and lifeless, but she still found it pretty cool. And the adrenaline rush was exciting. It wasn't a fun experience, almost being killed, but at least now she had an awesome story to tell.
