Rachel woke up to the door opening. Normally there was only one robot, but now there were three standing in front of her. The middle one looked different, but she couldn't place her finger on what it was that was so different about him.
She quickly realised that it was the one who sends all of the devices to the normal world.
"I'm so sorry for waking you," The middle one said. "Oh, who am I kidding? I don't really care about whether we woke you or not." He laughed. His voice sounded different. Rachel recognised it from somewhere, but she couldn't place her finger on where he was from.
"You must be the 'boss?'" She asked.
"I am indeed. I actually came here to tell you a little bit about myself. You see Rachel-"
"How do you know my name?" She interrupted him.
"I know everything about you. You see, you and your friends think that you are so smart, but the truth is, you are not. We knew you were coming here the first time. That's how we caught you. But the plan was never to kill you. We waited until your friends came along, thinking that they would be able to save the day." He laughed again. "What a terrible idea they had. They thought that they were able to take all of my bots down, but the truth is, I let them. You think that your plan is falling into place, but the thing is, it's actually my plan that is working out. I was watching all of you long before you even knew that something was up. You probably have no idea who you're talking to, so let me show you."
Exactly like Mira, he changed back into a human. She realised where she had seen him. It was Caleb's new friend, he just looked older, and he looked identical to Mira. He had the same black jeans and hoodie on as this morning, and it was the same as what the guy that she saw going through the portal wore.
"You might know me as Marcus, but my name is Mirror-Mike. It was so rude of me not to introduce myself sooner, I do apologise for that."
Rachel was too stunned to speak.
"Mira has probably told you her version of what happened to me. What she told you is not the truth at all. She twisted the story to make it sound like she's the victim in all of this. But I am the real victim."
"But I thought you were dead."
"Everyone thinks that I'm dead. I actually enjoy it when people don't know about my existence. But anyways, let me continue on with my story. Me and Mira died at the same time. She loved all that weird artsy stuff, and I loved computers and coding, but we were twins, so we had to get sent to the same place. She always got her way. No one cared about what I wanted. Mira has always been everyone's favourite, when we became guardians, she was still everyone's favourite. I hated that she took the credit for everything and was always in the spotlight. But then, I got assigned to take care of you. Do you remember me?"
Mira thought back to when she was really young. She did remember Mike. He looked exactly like her, just with blue eyes. She never really liked him. Then it hit her, the robot looked different because it had these bright blue eyes.
She nodded.
"When I got assigned to you, it was like I had won the jackpot. Mira was always jealous of me, because she got a kid that was awful to take care of. When I realised that you were so smart and creative, I knew you were my way to escape that place. You became like my minion. You did everything I asked you, and you would've done anything for me."
Mira remembered that this was why she never liked him. He was always too bossy.
"Everything was set for us to leave and go to the world of technology. You could have been my helping hand. We were going to leave and go to the world of technology. My whole plan was ruined when that stupid cat somehow found out about all of it. I was going to take over the real world and destroy that stupid place where all of them are. Me and Mira were on a mission one day, a bot saw me, and I was caught, no one came back to save me. Thanks to me being able to turn into anything I want, I could easily sneak in and hack into the systems. They didn't suspect a thing. I changed the code so that the bots won't kill me and that I would become their leader. And then I got in. Now my plan is working perfectly. I have you, and your pesky friends are on their way and there is nothing that you can do about it." One of the robots handed him a screen. He showed it to her.
There they were. All of the guardians, all making their way through the portal in the library. Mira wanted to scream at them and tell them to stop and go back, but there was no way they would be able to hear her.
"Well then, I have things to do. You don't have to worry about yourself. You won't be killed. I still need you."
He turned back into a robot and left the room again.
Rachel struggled to take in all of it. She wasn't expecting this at all. She got up and started pacing around the room, her legs were still feeling wobbly. She couldn't sit and do nothing. She had to do something to save the rest of the guardians and save the world.
She sat back down and stared at the water bottle. Suddenly, a plan popped into her head.
This plan had to work, otherwise, she wouldn't make it.
