The morning after the bonfire Cassie woke up with an excruciatingly painful headache. She wanted to stay in bed all day but Caroline demanded her presence in the town square. When she left the house she was too caught up in her own mind to notice Damon chained to a chair being tortured by the ghost of Mason Lockwood.

Mid-day, Cassie held a stack of folded up lanterns for Caroline and Bonnie to hang on trees for the Night of Illuminations. Cassie was convinced Carol was making up these celebrations at this point.

The Forbes paid no mind to the speech the mayor was giving, "So when you did the spell to send Vicki away, did that get rid of Anna, too?" She suddenly asked.

Cassie had missed a lot while she was on the road trip from hell. When the sheriff accidentally killed Jeremy, Bonnie brought him back to life against the spirits' wishes and there had been some side effects. He could now see ghosts, choosing to see his dead girlfriends Vicki and Anna.

"I wish." Bonnie answered, "All I did was block the magic that was helping Vicki get a physical foothold here. Jeremy's still got a direct line to the other side, and as long as he wants to see Anna and she wants to see him, she's still here."

Cassie had sympathy for Bonnie. She would choose her over any boy any day. "Can I kill her?" She could conjure up a spell to make the dead girl disappear forever, "Please."

"Okay, you don't think I can actually resist commenting on that." Caroline said, earning an elbow to the ribs from Cassie.

"There." The Bennett witch grumbled, "You commented."

Caroline trailed off, "Bonnie..."

"What do you want me to say, Caroline?" Bonnie snapped, "I went against the balance of nature when I brought Jeremy back to life, and now I'm paying the consequences."

"Well, I want you to say you're not okay with it." The blonde vampire replied softly.

"I'm a thousand times not okay with it. I just don't know what to do about it." Cassie grabbed her hand, giving it a gentle squeeze.

A loud, obnoxious car engine pulled the girls out of their conversation. Damon Salvatore drove up beside them, "Greetings, blondie. Witchy. Hermione," he smirked at each individual high school student, "I think you got your voodoo wires all crossed when you got rid of Vicki Donovan."
