William Shakespear's words were studied and analysed in schools across the globe. Bored adolescents are forced to read passages written in a seemingly mind boggling language that made no sense to very few, however, Cassie understood every word. She could recrite soliloquy after soliloquy from dozens of plays then go into heavy detail for hours explaining the importance of each individual word.

So could Kol Mikaelson.

Cassie was certain last night was a fever dream; not only did she attend a ball but she also ended the night with a tiara and an original copy of Romeo and Juliet in her possession. It was surreal.

But of course she had no time to reminisce as there was a new problem arising, Esther. Cassie didn't know all of the details — when did she ever? As far as she could tell the Original witch had a plan and once again her friends were radio silent, particularly Bonnie and Elena. Cassie was sick of it, sooner or later she was going to reach her breaking point.

Bonnie had texted Cassie once to ask for tips on how burning sage works in a silencing spell and being the bigger person she told her all she knew. Then that message was followed by more silence. Cassie could only assume that whatever they were planning was about the Originals because they still don't trust her, her best friends questioned where her loyalties lie.

To be fair, Cassie could understand their point of view, she did screw up the only chance of killing Klaus, but, it was a lapse in judgement, she was more than willing to drive a white oak stake in his heart now. Now that the whole family was awake, she was certain that her friends would stop at nothing to kill them all and that's where Cassie disagreed; Klaus was the one that hurt them, not all of the Mikaelsons.

God forbid she weigh in her own opinion though, Cassie wanted to savour whatever remaining trust her friends had in her. So leaving them to their own business, she went to The Grill instead.

Cassie sat at the bar with a glass of bourbon in her hand, unintentionally third wheeling Alaric and Meredith's date. She had been trying her best to block their conversation out, seeing her father figure flirting was not easy on the ears. She refused to move, she was here first.

When Alaric returned from a brief phone call with Damon, Cassie listened more intently to the couple as they talked about the recent killings. "Speaking of. Your x-rays were inconclusive." Meredith informed the history teacher, "Your knife wound was already semi-healed. It's impossible to tell anything about whoever stabbed you. Short, tall. Left-handed, right-handed. No clue."

Alaric furrowed his eyebrows, "Well, what about my head? Why can't I remember anything about the attack?"

"Your CT scans were clear." Meredith suggested, "Maybe you were compelled to forget."
