dawn was so used to seeing the talent that he completely forgot about those who may have lacked the skills to become an idol. it's not that they didn't try their best but sometimes it's the companies trying to spread popularity for their trainees or themselves so they send trainees who may not be the best just for the fame.
dawn was so close to being one of those, immediately after joining his company he was going to be sent out to produce 101 season 2 only at the age of 13. back then it was uncommon for minors to join shows like that but the industry has changed and so did the earth so of course it's allowed now.
god must have been on his side as the moments the applications were being sent out, a trainee had volunteered to take his place. dawn didn't know who this trainee was but to this day, he's grateful for him.
a trainee with a flashy red shirt entered the stage, indeed there was something with him. you could tell that he must have been an actor due to his aura and his physique, dawn thought that he must have been in the wrong place because he had the perfect image to be the male lead for a kdrama and dawn would watch it just for him.
"he's tall, is it just me but he looks like an actor?" hao asked as dawn suddenly jumped in agreement, ricky flinched from this as he didn't expect the sudden excitement. ollie was seen laughing at this as he didn't really notice how cute dawn was until now.
the performance started, my house by got7 was heard as dawn's smile suddenly dropped. he didn't imagine this type of performance, dawn was on the verge of laughing as he was holding on to a smile while tightly holding hao's hand. the dance was stiff and his vocals weren't the best trained, from this you could tell that the company must have sent him out just like they were gonna do to dawn back in his early days.
his voice suddenly cracked as dawn had to let it out, he faced the ground the entire time as when he looked back he could tell the man in red was also trying his best to hold it in. dawn found this cute as he found it attractive when people could also be embarrassed and take a joke, something about it was cute.
"stop laughing!" hao said as he was also seen holding it in, at this point dawn was literally digging into hao as he was so focused on not trying to laugh in front of the camera. that was when the performance had finished, the screen focused onto the man who had just performed.
he was embarrassed but he definitely had fun with what just happened, the masters were having a laugh as they were able to joke around with him. it was expected that he would receive zero stars but dawn admired the fact that he was brave about it.
"hes really cute." dawn said as hao gave him a judging look, as they continued to bicker someone had suddenly entered. someone from cube entertainment, if they came from this company than they must have been really talented or good looking.
a guy wearing blue flashy shirt came in, he was definitely good looking and had a baby face. as he walked in, dawn could recognise him but definitely didn't know from where or maybe he was one of those people that look familiar but you've never met.
he was even more cute when he messed up his introduction, his voice didn't match up his face as his voice was quite deep while his visual was more on the cute side. when the music played, dawn tried holding his laugh as it was the same song the previous guy had just performed.
plot twist, dawn ended up laughing even more to his performance. the masters were also caught off guard as they were also expecting someone talented but it was the opposite, his moves were also stiff. his vocals were really shocking to hear, it was clear that he was struggling to hit the notes as he was seen holding in his laugh too.
no shock when he also received zero star, however the previous guy in red was invited to do a duet with each other. dawn was finally able to catch their names, mingyu and doha. to this surprise, they looked way better as a duet than a soloist.
dawn really loved the moments of unseriousness as this showed the idols were also human and that they also were people that you could talk to and have fun with. a duet from china had stepped on the stage, they looked nervous and afraid but what were they afraid of?
however dawn knew the reason for their nervousness, they performed 'hot' right in front of the choreographer and it was a mess. the choreographer looked disgusted with what he saw meanwhile dawn was seen holding it in once again while hao trying to control him to stop.
where were the serious competitors or was this some sort of joke?
in the middle of all the bad performances, a cheerful and bright smiling trainee had entered the room. dawn was confused on why he looked so happy to be here but he admired the positive energy and he wanted to also be positive all the time.
it was soon found out that his name was matthew and he came from canada, a place that dawn always wanted to travel. it was known for its kindness and support for the lgbtq+, dawn had always believed in the right and freedom for the gays, and there was a reason why. he's gay.
matthew was also fluent in english and french which was a shock, the funny thing was he was put on the spot when he was asked to speak french. he seemed to forget all the french he must have learnt, but whatever he said, dawn agreed.
his performance was finally starting, dawn was finally able to concentrate without thinking about all the funny performances as matthew was really good at dancing, his vocals were smooth and nice to listen to. in dawn's opinion, he definitely made the song better and outdid the real artist. matthew was really deserving of all star but he like amongst others who also deserved it also got three stars.
dawn's attention was suddenly switched as a good looking trainee from korea made his way to the centre of the stage, he was definitely made for the idol look. his visuals were so peaceful and easy to the eye, just from looking at him there was something that told you that he may have faced a lot but always remained positive.
it was revealed that his name was sung hanbin and he was a former background dancer for bts and other idols. dawn took this as someone who learnt his craft well and knew what to do, the way he spoke was so professional and easy going.
the performance was everything dawn expected, he could see why he was a background dancer for huge idols but something that confused him was why he didn't feel confident in his vocals despite being more stable than majority of the others who had performed. he was also talented in tutting and when one of the masters found out about this, a dance battle was challenged.
lip j and hanbin were about to make history, dawn stood up watching their battle. dawn admired the fact that hanbin was able to learn a dance style that was mainly for the lgbtq+ as this allowed for it to spread awareness. both lip j and hanbin were splendid at what they had but dawn was leaning to being a hanbin fan.
however everyone's mouth dropped when it was revealed that he also got three stars, just like dawn he should have also gotten three stars. dawn wanted to learn something from him.
i guess life wasn't always how it seems.
