once again, ricky woke up dawn from a long night. tomorrow was the day where they had to perform the signal song in a test style, dawn was quite stressed as his family problems and performance problems were clashing with each other. today was quite a harsh day especially since this was their last practise before performing the song.
"dawn, i don't feel so good." ricky quietly said in chinese as if he didn't want anyone to hear and that was reasonable but dawn's inner older sibling came out and immediately checked his temperature. it was boiling hot but ricky didn't feel like being treated like a baby so he persisted that he would keep performing, dawn hated seeing him like this so he just ignored it as he wouldn't listen either way.
rolling his eyes, he headed to the hallway where he smiled at those who walked pass him. something he would notice was the passion of k group, they really did want to win as even in the hallway they would continue practicing. even those with zero stars were pushing themselves by asking those with more experience for help, that was when someone tapped him from behind and it was yang jun, the one who performed hot.
dawn felt bad for him as he was embarrassed a lot especially the clip of him performing hot, he asked what was wrong. jun told him that he needed help with the choreography, dawn wasn't really busy so he decided to help him. however he was curious on why he asked him for help and not anyone else especially since there were many more better than him.
this made dawn curious, even while helping him he was still urging to ask. jun was quite hard to teach but dawn didn't give up as he knew what it felt like to be given up on and he didn't want anyone to feel that way.
"hyung, why did you ask me to help you. there are so many other better than me." dawn finally asked as that got him thinking for some time, that was when jun told him some shocking news.
"well, first of you're really approachable and i've seen you help others so i know that you're nice. secondly you have a baby face which is so cute and i've always wanted to tell you, lastly even though im older i still want to learn from others." hearing this dawn was shocked, he didn't expect anyone to notice him helping others as he's always done stuff not for the attention but for being nice.
jun hugged him and thanked him for his time, dawn quickly rushed off to the yuehua boys. he opened each practise room to search for them, everytime he did he was met with all eyes confusion and laughter. it was until he arrived at the last practise room where he found them altogether, as he entered they all greeted him with excitement as if they were waiting.
"gyuvin was telling us how you're staying with him over some time. aren't you excited, by the way good luck he's gonna annoy you until you beg to leave." ricky said as dawn immediately faced gyuvin fearing that he told them something however ricky didn't say anything else or why so he calmed down.
"hyung! you're gonna love gyuvin's dog, eumppapa. he's such a sweetheart and his siblings are adorable." yujin immediately stepped up and added on, what was it about gyuvin that made him so perfect.
it was time to continue their practise session, hao decided to step up and take the role as analysing everyone's steps. he also taught them the routine with extra details, dawn felt like he was finally improving especially since he was in a positive working environment. he felt like he finally belonged somewhere and at this rate maybe even debut!
dawn was definitely someone who wasn't afraid to own up to his mistakes so when he would make some errors he would make sure to check what went wrong and he could change it. maybe that's why he was known to be talented, while checking the mirror he would catch the others giving glances at him.
"hao hyung! i'm hungry." dawn said as he sat down exhausted from the countless amount of dancing they had just done, that was when gyuvin got some snacks that he kept in his bag. as he showed dawn, he was dying from the amount of snacks he bought with him it was a lot. gyuvin told him to take as much as it wanted, dawn didn't really like snacks so he just took the chocolate cookies gyuvin had bought with him.
"take more!" gyuvin said as dawn declined his offer, the others in the room was confused at this point on why gyuvin was acting like this. after this happened, ricky went to dawn to tell him something that kinda confused him as well.
"you may wonder why we gave confused looks when gyuvin offered you to take more snacks. well, back in yuehua he would never allow any of us to take his snacks so when he allowed you, that was shocking." dawn laughed at this and thought of this as a kind gesture since they've only known each other for a few days.
ricky was not certain with that but he had other thoughts in his head. dawn decided to wonder around for a bit, he headed outside to catch some fresh air as they've been stuck inside for some time and it was hard.
"do you mind if i sit with you, it stinks in there." a voice called over as dawn looked over to see an unfamiliar face, he looked tired and exhausted. he looked at his name tag and it read 'cha woongki'
"hold up! dawn? oh my god, why haven't i seen you earlier in the hallway. i was planning to talk to you on the first day but you were with that big group so i never had time." woongki suddenly got excited as he forgot about his tiredness, dawn could tell that woongki was definitely a positive person.
"you're gay aren't you?" woongki suddenly said out of nowhere which took dawn aback, but woongki had no filter and told him that he didn't mind and there must be a reason why.
"woongki, can i be honest with you?" dawn asked as woongki suddenly turned serious and promised to be honest with him.
"lately, i feel like i've been the happiest i've ever been but there are some issues that are impossible to fix. they keep dragging me down and i feel like i won't be able to do well if they're stuck there but the thing is i can't just leave it or it'll affect the ones i love." woongki listened and gave him some advice.
"personally i think it's good you're feeling happy. however those issues should be solved first, i always believed that if you want to do well you have to be a good person so if you keep waiting and be a good person then your time will come for your issues to be solved." dawn listened and hugged him, maybe this was the start of a new friendship.
___
night time had arrived and everyone was in their beds sleeping getting some rest for the next day since it was the test day. dawn was struggling and thinking about woongki said to him, quietly he snuck out and headed to one of the practise rooms.
looking at himself he wondered why he was cursed into poverty, his parents were good people and they didn't deserve this. if he just done better than maybe he would help his family into money but that was impossible. with his head down while crying, he couldn't stop thinking about his family back in china.
the door to the room swung open but dawn didn't care who they were as he was too upset to even think. the footsteps got closer as their presence could be felt, they had sat right next to dawn. it was silent in the room as if no one was right next to him, dawn didn't care who or what it was.
"i don't know who you are but thanks for being here with me." dawn said while his head was still down while tears came down, that was when the mysterious person put their hands on his back while patting him.
"it's okay. i was unable to sleep and noticed you heading here while looking distressed so i followed you." the voice spoke, this was a voice that dawn hasn't really heard of yet but it was familiar.
that was when dawn had the courage to lifting his head, he realised who it was. sung hanbin, they've never spoken but dawn knew who he was since he was definitely one of the more popular trainees. hanbin sat there waiting for dawn to say something, meanwhile dawn just wanted someone to hug him tightly.
as if hanbin could read people's minds, he quickly hugged dawn tightly. why was he so comforting and why was dawn feeling sleepy?
